There is a quiet magic in realizing wildflowers are more than just a view, they are food, dye & medicine. It’s even more beautiful when shared with a community that values the earth as much as the art we create from it 🪻🌼🪷 🎥 Documentation & visual storytelling @ghazelllllll Deeply grateful to @hounanow for creating this experience and to @nahlatabbaa for sharing such a wealth of knowledge! 🧚🏽 #wildlife #jordan #visualstorytelling

🌾 Researchers, artists, and writers are invited to think with rice - as method, material, and collaborator. What if rice were an archive? What does absence teach the land? Can care be innovation? Can cooking be research? Whose stories grow in fields? What does rice remember? Can art study climate? Who collaborates beyond humans? How does food hold grief? 🍚 We’ll see you on the sufra soon. Register at the link in our bio!

Scattered across Jordan’s hills and pathways, wild flowers bloom without instruction; gentle, resilient, and fleeting. This picnic invites us to meet them where they grow, to learn their names, and to create with their color, scent, and taste. From Bandoura Club to Zhourat Club, we’re very excited to present our second collaboration with @nahlatabbaa . Zhourat Club is a picnic-style gathering that explores the edible, botanical, and creative sides of Jordan’s native blooms. Together, we’ll spend the day walking, foraging, creating, and making - a gentle celebration of nature, art, and community. What to expect? 🌸 🗓️ Saturday, April 18th (12:00PM – 5:00PM) 📍Mahis (ماحص) - exact location will be shared by email upon registration. Guided by Nahla Al Tabbaa, an artist, chef, and curator working at the intersection of food, alchemy, and ecology, we’ll begin our day with a slow walk to discover and gather edible wild flowers and herbs. We’ll return to our picnic spot to prepare a freshly foraged collectively made wild flower salad accompanied by locally sourced snacks, and zhourat teas. Then, Nahla will guide the process of ecoprinting your bouquet of flowers onto silk and creating crystallized edible flowers for dessert. We’ll end with a sweet close, reflecting together on what’s been gathered and made. 🎟️ Register at /hounanow/zhouratclub (link in bio) — A few things to bring: 👟 Comfortable walking shoes 💦 A reusable water bottle 🦟 Bug spray 🌞 Hats, sunscreen, and layered clothing - whatever keeps you comfortable outdoors We hold this gathering with an awareness of the realities unfolding across the SWANA region. As we spend time with the land, food, and one another, we remain in solidarity with our communities experiencing genocide, war, displacement, loss, and much more. As part of our commitment to collective responsibility, a portion of this event’s proceeds will be donated to @beitelbaraka working on the ground in Lebanon. 🌼 — Poster doodles by @nahlatabbaa

Cropped #35mm of Beirut, taken on the @hounanow photo walk in November 2025. ❤️‍🩹 Beirut is home to the kindest people I’ve met in my life. The architecture contains a multitude of identities too - buildings that survived several wars, little kiosks, gentrified coffee shops, and the best restaurants you’ll ever eat at in your life. Beirut’s cityscape is a diverse array of buildings coming together to form one of the most beautiful places in the world. To see it under attack is heartbreaking. If you’re able please donate to @lebaneseredcross or to any other charity on the ground in lebanon. . . . #beirutphotography #lebanonphotography #croppedfilm #beirutonfilm

recapping the second iteration of ‘poetry tastes like’ - a reading group series reimagining poetry and literature through a dialogue with taste. this time, the gathering explored themes of devotion, self-discipline, and the entanglements of the ego, honoring the shared moment in which ramadan and lent began on the same day. through a curated selection of poems, we reflected on what it means to fast, to sit with the self when the ego is not constantly fed, and to consider how practices of restraint across traditions can open pathways toward care, humility, and service to others. the evening was titled “qamar al din,” after the beloved apricot drink found across the SWANA region. its name translates poetically to the moon of my faith, or the moon of my devotion, a quiet witness to cycles, reflection, and the dialogue of our inner worlds. the montreal event was organized by @dinaalobo and @weinak.whereareyou , with our support at the wonderful space, @_akermus . a warm shout out to @jugaarpopups and chef soma for the incredible pakoras that accompanied the drinks and conversations. 🧡

“Poetry Tastes Like” is a reading group series reimagining literature through a dialogue with taste, hosted by poet and artist Dina Lobo and beverage pop up WEINAK by Abdulkhaleq Jraidan. In each session, guests engage with curated poems that shape the drink menu. On March 4, we explore what lies at the root of Ramadan. Fasting is a practice shared across many ways of life. This year, Ramadan and Lent began on the same day and in honouring this convergence, we will discuss the practice of self discipline and the entanglement of the ego. This offering is not exclusive to the practice of Ramadan - it extends beyond it. Guided by a collection of poems by varying authors, we ask: when our ego is not fed, what arises? In this spirit, we celebrate community by supporting the hands that feed us. In collaboration with JUGAAR, Chef Soma will be serving fresh pakoras to accompany our drink pairings. A percentage of the ticket price will go directly to her, aligning with Jugaar’s mission to empower South Asian aunties in Montreal by creating avenues of alternate income for those facing work barriers. We invite you to Poetry Tastes Like: “Qamar Al Din,” the name of a beloved apricot drink across the SWANA region. Within its name, poetry resides and translates to “the moon of faith.” The moon, the witness to the dialogue of our shadows. Each guest will receive a personalised envelope containing all materials. Drinks are non-alcoholic and included in the ticket price. TICKET LINK IN BIO 🌹 Doors close at 7:30 PM sharp. ——— About our collaborators: Houna (هـنــا), meaning ‘Here’ in Arabic, embodies the present moment. Through art, Houna fosters community education, wellbeing, and cultural reconnection, centering the SWANA experience. Jugaar: creates multi-sensorial pop ups where south Asian aunties showcase their stories through the love language of food.
