Part 2 of BAKE with @whitneyschmanski : ALIGN YOUR POSTURE 🧍‍♀️
This week is all about how to properly stand when you’re spending long hours at your counter. Stay until the end for tips on how to properly align your body and wrists while kneading dough!
Ok bakers let’s talk packaging! We heard you wanted to know the best way to pack your cookies so they stay fresh for more than just a day or two, so we asked Kate from @katescookiecompany to walk us through her method.
It’s easy to do and will extend your shelf life for up to a week. Thanks for sharing your secrets with our community Kate!
One of the most common questions we get from chefs is how to price their baked goods in a way that actually helps them build a profitable business.
So we asked Kat, owner of @cloud.and.crumb (and a Stanford PhD) to walk us through the pricing equation and spreadsheet she developed when she first started the bakery.

Michelle just started her microbakery @matjip.sf , but already she’s become familiar with baker burnout. It’s hard when there’s so many things you want to make and bake, but only so many hours in the day!
We bet that a lot of you can relate, but as a business owner (especially a business you run from home), it’s really up to you to set your own boundaries and protect your time and energy. We love this line from Michelle: “Taking my time will ultimately save me time”
Bakers: What are some things you do to prevent burnout?
Matilde makes hundreds of sourdough goods a week for her microbakery @warrenvillebread and, like a lot of our microbakers, she’s found a way to integrate her successful business with her life and family.
How does that work exactly?? We asked her to break down what a typical week looks like for her - from prep to dough to sushi night with the kids.
How does your schedule compare?

Just 3 minutes of warm up movements before a bake day can make a huge difference in how you feel after!
We know those looooong stretches working in the kitchen can leave you feeling sore and achy, so we asked Whitney (@whitneyschmanski ), a movement educator, to guide us through a few easy movements to do before, during, and after baking.
This is part 1 - B. How to “Build your base” before you start working. Maybe while the oven is preheating…
Check back every Friday for a new video! Next week is about Alignment when you’re standing and working!
Gabriel just started his micro bakery and his fans are already selling him out of bagels 🥯🔥
We asked him how he did it, and he shared this awesome story about turning a test batch into the samples that brought in his first customers!
A lot of passion and planning has gone into this business, and we’re really excited to follow along Gabriel’s micro bakery journey!
And if you’re in Atlanta, be sure to subscribe to drop notifications at @gabrielsbagels@hotplate link in bio!
@lindseybakesbread runs a busy and successful microbakery, but she only bakes two times a month!
Here’s her story…and her secrets to making it work for her and her family.
