In the preamble of the Teamsters constitution, it speaks to the importance of the members and the local unions. Its the local unions who make the international. Its speaks to the local unions being partners with the international union. What happens when local unions lose resources due to mass layoffs and building closures? With many layoffs happening in every Teamster craft and companies closing their buildings, local unions will lose valuable resources. This will weaken their ability to organize. The employers will take full advantage of this because local unions will not have adequate resources to fight back. We plan to ammend the Teamsters constitution to ensure local unions retain valuable resources to continue their fight against the employers and also organize more workers. Not only do we need to negotiate stronger job protection language against AI and automation, we need to preserve and protect the local unions.

Employers like UPS dont fear tough talk. UPS was told they were going to be brought to their knees. All they did was lay off more members and close down more buildings. Oh by the way they are offering another "illegal" buyout. We heard it from the horses mouth, they stopped automation. Again, more tough talk. The only people that were brought to their knees were our members. Wages they won't see and some will also lose their Healthcare for themselves and their families. So again, who was brought to their knees? The only way we win is for everyone fighting together and standing up to these employers. True strategy and constant and consistent truth to our members. Building rank-and-file committees that build power. The helmet and chin strap didnt work, it never will. Now let's use real power and that power comes from our members

-We who believe in freedom can not rest until it comes- There is an old chant that echoes in the wind on picket lines and strike lines, “When Workers are under attack, what do we do, stand up and fight back!” What we are seeing in Minnesota is a different attack on the working class. The forces of totalitarianism are literally killing our brothers and sisters in the streets, as the perpetrators act as if they are the victims. The message is clear: They don't want to hear our voices. They say we the working class should not have rights; how dare we challenge their false beliefs? ICE is being used to keep us in line. They are not here to protect us. They choose to serve the ruling class -- not the working class. Several weeks ago, border patrol agents showed up at a Teamster strike line in Chicago to harass and intimidate striking Mauser workers. Our members have every right to fight for a better life for their families, but ICE and the border patrol do not believe we have the right to live the American dream. They want us to “know our place,” which is under the boot of authoritarianism. Their actions demand that we understand that noncompliance will be settled at the barrel of a gun. Hope is not lost. We will prevail. We will stand as family against these unlawful attacks. We will support each other in our strife. When the time comes, we will withhold our labor, check on our neighbors, and stand in solidarity with them. We will always stand with the people; the people have the power. A couple weeks ago myself and alternate shop steward Buddy Neal had a conversation. In that conversation my brother said something that I want everyone to listen to. Right now the working class is getting obliterated. Massive layoffs, building closures, workers losing their Healthcare and working class discrimination is at an all time high. We also continue to lose worker protections. Fear is not an option. Fear is not going to help you. Fear is a tool of an oppressor. This is the labor movements moment to lead, not to be silent and not be afraid. Dont let those in power make you think you dont have any. This will be our 1st general membership meeting of the year. We need every 623 member to be there. We have a lot to talk about. We have another new group preparing to vote to join our great local. Open bargaining is a pilar of getting more involvement from our members. When we create more spaces of honesty, openness and trust, members will get more involved. This is one of my members @maggiemullooly . Her, Myself, and another one of my members were arrested for standing up and fighting for the working class. In 2025 we did a lot. We created a new grievance committee made up of rank-and-file members. Having members see themselves in more active roles within their union breeds more participation and involvement. It gives them a sense of empowerment and ownership. If the members dont feel that their union belongs to them, they won't participate. We believe in true rank-and-file power here. We rallied to raise the minimum wage in PA. We marched. We protested against our employers and the employers of our other union siblings. Their fight is our fight too. Our community outreach continued to grow. You organize workers where they live, not just where they work. As you can see in the picture below, we love to fight. Paddy wagons, employers, handcuffs and anit-worker politicians won't stop us because hey..
