Join the Conversation: The Heart of the
Making Process
In celebration of the opening of ‘Makers: the process’ exhibition by artist and newly published book-maker Ivett Dodd, we invite you to a special panel discussion on Thursday 2 April 5.30-6.30pm.
Dr Helen Norrie (UTAS) will convene a conversation with Tasmanian ceramicists Ben Richardson and Jane Bamford, Architectural Photographer Martin Mischkulnig (Sydney) and Ivett Dodd, asking the question ‘what does it truly take to bring a vision to life?’
“While we often marvel at a finished piece, the journey from a spark of inspiration to a physical object is paved with re-thinking, problem-solving, dreaming, and learning.” — Ivett Dodd
The accompanying exhibition tells a story of how the book Makers came to life, and shines a spotlight on local jewellers, ceramicists, furniture makers, and textile artists who are defining our state’s unique design culture.
Where: Design Tasmania, corner Tamar & Brisbane Streets, Launceston
When: 5.30pm - 6.30pm, Thursday 2 April

Amazing day in the incredible Ngorongoro crater get up close to so many incredible animals, including the huge mob of wilderbeest. 100s of jeeps gather for lunch by the hippos pool and an excellent coffee from the crater coffee carts, but spread out across 264km2 on the crater floor there is plenty of opportunity to observe the animals one jeep at a time (except when someone finds the lions, then it’s a conga line of jeeps jostling for a peek. Great fun searching the various paths with the excellent driver-guides from @tanzaniadiscoverytours thanks @diannasnape for another excellent day.

Wonderful guides/drivers in contact w each other on CB radio, discussing what they have seen. We had a few fun, quick u-turns and speedy back through dusty bumpy track to see three generations of lions 🦁 waiting in the sun by the water for unsuspecting prey and a quick reverse at speed back over the bridge when one car thought they had spotted a leopard. So amazing to see all these amazing creatures hanging about just doing their thing in the 2600km2 Tarangire National Park w the brilliant guides from @tanzaniadiscoverytours
