Solo record out today! This one has been a long time coming, in many ways, and I'm really excited it's out there! Material developed over the last few years before reaching this form, heavily influenced by the acoustically unique Emanuel Vigeland museum/mausoleum, where it was recorded. Lots of discreet and indiscreet bass, so play it loud on a fitting device plz!   180 gr vinyl with a fold out riso print cover, hand stamped and numbered - be sure that I have touched every single one....... Physical copies can be ordered from PL on Bandcamp or me personally, and also some distributors.  "At once musing and brooding, the gamut of emotive sonic landscapes is at play for a fully dynamic listening experience. The territory in Nørstebø’s vocabulary through interplay with the mausoleum is not vaulted , unlike Vigeland’s urn’ed ashes. On Faint Light Blackens, the spirit takes bound beyond the cavern and reanimates the listeners stereo alters for a holistic listening experience of perfectly challenging electroacoustic endeavors." --------- Playing the 6th release concert tomorrow, at Mengi in Reykjavik, and working on release tour part 2 for this fall and next year (feel free to reach out). ----------- Many thanks to @nickklein____ @psychicliberation for releasing & working on this! I mixed it myself, which was made possible by Espen Reinertsen's excellent recording skills, and final mastering polish by Helge Sten @audioviruslab . Cover photos and video by me. @dominiq.xyz expertly provided cover layout and print preparation, while Gustavo Saiegh took the product photos. Risograph prints by @wemakeitberlin Thanks to @audrey.isabel.chen for taking this first polaroid photo late last night, providing feedback and being awesome generally!  Music developed with support from @kulturdir , and recorded with support from @ffukno

Norwegian trombonist Henrik Munkeby Nørstebø is an experienced improviser (see the duo Beam Splitter with Audrey Chen) who combines virtuosic play with a focus on spatial acoustics, utilising amplification and electronics. On the recent live recording Solo Norwich, the trombone’s bass pulses and feedback make a former factory seem busy again, up to the brink of an earthquake; the upcoming release Faint Light Blackens provides a lyrical counterpart out of the resonances of Oslo’s Vigeland Mausoleum. Moments of surprise are just as crucial as sheer intensity. Sonitus presents three musicians from the cosmopolitan Berlin scene: trombonist and sound artist Henrik Munkeby Nørstebø, pastoral noise of Bride and Nic Krog’s intimate/skeletal electronics, joined by Mojmír Měchura’s ambient outlet Black Morava. TICKETS: presale 250/350 CZK via @boomevents.cz or 350 on the spot.

Sonitus presents three musicians from the cosmopolitan Berlin scene: trombonist and sound artist Henrik Munkeby Nørstebø, pastoral noise of Bride and Nic Krog’s intimate/skeletal electronics, joined by Mojmír Měchura’s ambient outlet Black Morava. Nic Krog’s work dramatises a tension between intimacy and detachment. Electronic tropes are complemented by lyrics that draw both from their childhood in the Danish countryside and life on Berlin’s club and queer scenes. The confessional tendencies contrast with apathetic, post-punk-like vocals and emaciated, almost industrial-sounding mutations of bass music. But whether it’s the recent “audio play” on Psychic Liberation, or the debut on Opal Tapes, this is a coldness that always draws you in. Esme Rebora’s project Bride takes drone and noise as its primary modes of operation, with forays into power ambient stripped of its bombast and death industrial that dares make use of colour. In Bride’s slowly roiling soundscapes, harshness cannot be separated from beauty. Loops and pulses get crushed into pulp or, conversely/simultaneously, rise to angelic heights in (quasi-)organ or orchestral melodies with a touch of British post-industrial psychedelia. Black Morava is the ambient alter ego of Mojmír Měchura aka Trauma of the Wrong collective, staging an encounter between rural tradition and something more unsettling – a twisted take on the world of folk costumes, vineyards, and quaint churches. Last year’s Tři oříšky (Traumatized) gives a good idea of the process: a dissolution of an idyl into ghostly loops.

PLIB034 - HENRIK MUNKEBY NØSTREBØ - FAINT LIGHT BLACKENS LP On his fourth solo album, and debut work for the Psychic Liberation imprint, Henrik Munkeby Nørstebø presents Faint Light Blackens , a negotiation between the atomized instrumentation of the solo trombone is pushed towards a “full range wall of sound” over the concise sprawl of seven distinct acts on two sides of a vinyl record. The seven acts that make up the album were developed specifically for recording within Emanuel Vigeland’s “Tomba Emmanuelle”. The fresco within the mausoleum anchors themes of existential weight, ripe with weighted imagery of love, birth, and death. The solemn space is a cavernous acoustic terrain wherein reverberant reverie makes it almost impossible to speak aloud, let alone sing through horn and electronics. This chamber’s expanse is baked into the compositional directions employed on Faint Light Blackens. Experientially, the record was produced in a long form performance gesture, with no overdubs. While edited to fit the record format, no additional post production coloring took place. Here Nørstebø shines as an instrumentalist, wherein the symbiosis of the site specific architecture and his sound sources are synced. At once musing and brooding, the gamut of emotive sonic landscapes is at play for a fully dynamic listening experience. The territory in Nørstebø’s vocabulary through interplay with the mausoleum is not vaulted , unlike Vigeland’s urn’ed ashes. On Faint Light Blackens, the spirit takes bound beyond the cavern and reanimates the listeners stereo alters for a holistic listening experience of perfectly challenging electroacoustic endeavors. New albums out next by LXV, Corporate Park, Tzu Ni, and Shawn O’ Sullivan …. God willing.
