✨ Aspire · Connect · Transform | A Year of Social Good 🌍
Today we celebrated 170 students stepping up to serve, learn, and act. We are so proud of their growth this year across service learning, mentoring, and social innovation! 💡
This momentum wouldn’t be possible without our 70+ community and impact partners, as well as our school and department advisors. 🌟 Thank you for guiding our students and helping them find their footing in a fast-changing world.
Community engagement is never just about volunteering. It’s about shifting perspectives, building empathy, and growing into the kind of leaders the world earnestly needs. 🌍

🎬 A first look at the future of cinema
“Is the life you are living real?”
That question sets the tone for the creative worlds explored through AI filmmaking.
This year’s Festival has received over 1,300 AI-generated works from nearly 80 countries and regions, reflecting bold experimentation in storytelling, visual expression, music, and human-AI collaboration.
Among the selected AI films to be showcased are six shortlisted works created by members of the HKUST and HKUST (GZ) community, highlighting how artificial intelligence is expanding creative possibilities across formats and themes, including vertical shorts, AI music, cross-cultural dialogue, and new cinematic languages.
The Festival also features a world-class jury panel of prominent figures from the global film and entertainment sectors, including Tia CARRERE, two-time Grammy Award-winning singer and actress; Paul DEBEVEC, Chief Research Officer of Netflix Eyeline Studios; and Jacob ADLER, Grand Prix Winner of the 2025 Runway AI Film Festival.
Beyond the screen, three thematic panel discussions will open up conversations on AI film production, film aesthetics and authorship in the AI era, and cultural memories and digital heritage.
Join us at the 2nd AI Film Festival to discover how filmmakers, students, researchers, and creators are pushing the boundaries of cinema.

🌸 Happy Mother’s Day! 🌸
Today, we celebrate the incredible mothers who fill our lives with love, warmth, and unwavering support. Every moment shared becomes a cherished memory, woven into the fabric of our hearts. From comforting hugs and wise words of advice to the simple joy of laughter over coffee, mothers have a special way of making every day brighter.
To all the moms—thank you for being our guiding lights and our greatest cheerleaders. Your love inspires us to be our best selves.
Let’s take a moment today to appreciate the beautiful impact mothers have on our lives.

💐 What are the things your mom always says to you?
“Dinner is ready.” “Don’t stay up too late.” “Go take a shower.”
Sometimes, the words we hear most often are also the ones filled with the most love.
This Mother’s Day, we asked our students to share the little phrases, memories, and heartfelt messages that remind them of home — from mom’s reaction to the HKUST offer to imagining her as Professor Mom for a day.
Some answers made us laugh. Some made us pause. All of them reminded us how a mother’s love can show up in the simplest ways.
To all the moms, mother figures, and those who care for us like family: thank you for your love, support, and quiet strength.❤️
