Hello Kind and Curious Human, Sunday Afternoon. Coffee, the manuscript, and a packed bag by the door. Tomorrow I fly to Las Vegas for Licensing Expo. Seven years since I last walked that floor. Different industry conditions, different version of me, same reason for going: I am still a student of this business. Decades in, the leaders I admire most are not the ones who arrived. They are the ones who keep going back to the floor. Back to the room. Back to the question. What are you still learning this week? Saturday Morning in the ATL. Working on new book and final Vegas schedule. Coffee at the right temp....... The kind of morning where the work feels like a privilege and passion, instead of a deadline........ A reminder to myself and maybe to you: the life you are building is already here. It is just quieter than the noise. Keep Smiling Jim😃

Hiring people smarter than you is a leadership advantage, not a threat Hiring people smarter than you is one of the clearest signs of strong leadership. In this clip from The Business Gay, Jim Fielding explains why he intentionally looked for candidates who challenged him intellectually. While leading teams at Fox, Jim would ask recruiters to bring candidates who would “scare” him—not because they were risky, but because they brought expertise, perspectives, and technical knowledge he didn’t already have. The conversation highlights a common leadership mistake: hiring for comfort instead of capability. Strong leaders build teams that expand what the organization can do, even if it means stepping outside their own expertise. A key idea: leadership is not about being the smartest person in the room. It’s about building teams that make the room smarter. In this clip: • why great leaders hire people smarter than themselves • how strong teams improve decision-making • dangers of hiring for comfort instead of growth • importance of diverse expertise and perspectives • why intellectual challenge strengthens leadership Watch the full episode 🎧 /podcast/future-of-dei-jim-fielding/ More on Jim Fielding: 🔗 Website: hijimfielding.com 🔗 LinkedIn: /in/jimfielding 🔗 Connect with the podcast team: /contact Save this if you’re building or leading a team. #leadership #hiringstrategy #teambuilding #management #executiveleadership #leadershipdevelopment #careergrowth #businesspodcast

Stop Outsourcing Your Power: Erin Coupe on Healing, Leadership, and Building a Life That Fits What if the life you built to survive is no longer the life you want to live? In this episode of Ask For An Answer, I sit down with leadership advisor, speaker, and author @authenticallyec for a deeply honest conversation about burnout, emotional resilience, childhood trauma, parenting, corporate leadership, and the long process of learning how to stop abandoning yourself. This episode was so insightful and educational for me, and I know you will enjoy it as well. Erin Coupe is a gem!! Speed is not strategy. Some of the busiest people I coach are the ones making the least progress. Not because they're lazy. Because they never stopped long enough to check the direction. Pause this week. Even for 12 minutes. Keep smiling, Jim #Jimisms #Leadership #RadicalKindness #Direction #QuotesOnLeadership

Mother's Day. My mom taught me that kindness was not a mood. It was a muscle. You trained it every day whether you felt like it or not. My sister carries it now better than anyone I know. Jill is a role model for us all. And my mother-in-law, Jackie, has blessed us all with her love and grace. To the mothers who are still here, the ones we've lost, and the women in our lives who mother us in ways that don't always show up in a card — thank you. Leave your corner of the world better than you found it. In Community and Conversation, Jim #MothersDay #Family #RadicalKindness
