RUPCO's Community Engagement Team Presents "The 9th Terror: A Love/Hate Relationship with Newburgh” – A Raw and Unfiltered Documentary by Nasihah Jihad Jones 📆 March 13, 2026 ⏰ 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM 📍 245 Liberty Street, Newburgh, NY 12550 Join activist-artist Nasihah Jihad Jones for a special screening of his documentary film, "The 9th Terror: A Love/Hate Relationship with Newburgh" – an hour and twenty-one-minute visual archive capturing one of the most turbulent periods in the City of Newburgh’s modern history. Originally filmed thirteen years ago, "The 9th Terror" documents the hundreds of tragic murders that shook Newburgh and examines the structural conditions—poverty, blight, political neglect, and systemic corruption—that shaped the lived realities of its residents. The film is both testimony and time capsule, preserving the voices of community members navigating grief, resilience, anger, and love in a city often defined solely by headlines. Rejecting Hollywood polish, "The 9th Terror" is intentionally raw and unfiltered. There is no cinematic gloss to soften its edges. Instead, Jones preserves the grit, the discomfort, and the immediacy of lived experience. The aesthetic is stripped down and direct—mirroring the emotional landscape of the community itself. As an activist-artist rooted in Newburgh, Nasihah Jihad Jones positions the camera not as voyeur but as participant. The documentary amplifies voices often dismissed or unheard—residents who articulate both a deep love for their city and a profound frustration with its conditions.
