The wait is (almost!) over 🦬💛
For everyone who pre-ordered – Thank YOU so so much!! Your High Low Buffalo cards are nearly here, we are ready to madly pack and post and I can’t wait for you to hold them in your hands!
This little game started around our dinner table when I was desperate to get more than a “fine” or “dunno” out of my boys. We began sharing our High (best bit), Low (tricky bit) and Buffalo (random or funny moment) each day — and it changed everything.
It brought laughter, honesty, and connection back to family life, no extra time or perfection required.
That’s why I created the High Low Buffalo Card Set: 52 simple, evidence-based prompts to spark real conversations and build connection, resilience, and gratitude whether it’s at dinner with a huge brood, or one on one at bedtime.
The project was brought to life with the help of Issy @stuffbystink who hand cut and created every single shape letter and buffalo. 🦬
Thanks for being here - I can’t wait to share all the ways you can use these cards to foster connection with kids. 💛
For many years I either thought my boys either couldn’t remember what happened at school, or just had nothing they wanted to tell me!
It was the incredible Maggie Dent who first taught me about the importance of feeding my kids before I did anything else. She also taught me how often little boys will hold in a poo and before they’ve done that in their toilet at home there is no point in trying to ask them how their day was or who they played with.
The absolute game changing moment at our family dinners was bringing in the ritual of playing @highlowbuffalocards a few years ago. By dinner time - the boys have had enough time to decompress, and often when we lower the pressure and add a bit of humour to the way we connect the information suddenly starts flowing!
Thank you so much @davidcampbell73@belinda.russell and @thetodayshow for having me on to talk about getting kids to open up after school.
#connection
We absolutely love how much you are all loving @highlowbuffalocards
Whenever Gen @connectedparentingau or Issy @stuffbystink hear how much the cards are helping or how much you love the design our hearts skip a beat!
Designed with love and we are so glad you are loving them too.
Research shows that regular family rituals and routines create a sense of predictability, emotional safety and connection for children, and are linked to better emotional regulation, mental health, resilience and stronger family relationships.
And the beautiful thing is that these rituals don’t need to be complicated. A ritual like High Low Buffalo fits this beautifully because it combines predictability, emotional check-ins, storytelling, belonging and repeated connection over time.
It’s not about getting parenting perfect or having hours of quality time every day. It’s the tiny repeated moments that matter. The moments where kids learn: “someone will check in with me”, “my thoughts matter here” and “this is what our family does.”
Because connection matters, but connection that becomes a ritual seems to matter even more. Link in bio to get your cards.
If one of your kids is struggling, if behaviour is driving you crazy, I have a solution for you - and it’s not what you think.
Just ten minutes of fully focused attention can fill a child’s emotional cup to the brim, and it’s one of the fastest ways to help kids feel settled, connected, and more willing to go with the flow.
Ten minutes of one-on-one time tells a child, “You matter to me,” and that feeling alone can do more than any reward, consequence, or lecture ever could.
@highlowbuffalocards one of the ways to foster connection and calm the chaos 💪🙌 and perfect for using when having one on one time with your kids.
Do your kids share every detail about their day? Or is it like getting blood from a stone?
When we ask questions that are low pressure, and really specific kids brains can actually open up.
The issue with how was your day is that kids can’t recall all the ups and downs or the funny bits. @highlowbuffalocards helps us break it down and create pockets of connection.
I’ve loved hearing the difference that is making in your families… so many kids are finally spilling the tea!!!! 👊💪

Officially “Wiggle approved” 🏆🙌🩷🎉
I am passionate about the ways in which connection can change the game when it comes to kids.
I created @highlowbuffalocards because parents needed ways to bring lightness, laughter and connection to parenting without having another thing to do!
I adored a recent chat on @wiggletalkpodcast with @lachy_wiggle and @simon_wiggle all about parenting siblings and navigating friendship struggles! Can’t wait to share the episode soon!

When we get kids talking about things that made them smile, we foster gratitude. Fostering a sense of gratitude increases the level of well-being in kids short and long-term.
Ask your kids:
What made you smile today?
What was the tastiest thing in your lunch today? And
What was game you played at lunch that was fun today?
High low buffalo cards has 25 different cards that focus your Child on the high points in their day. Not only does this foster connection but it increases well-being long-term get yours via link in bio or .au
