Unforgivable is the very last song I wrote for my new project, and the very first song to be shown to the world. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it with my lovely friends who I hold so dear and I’m so grateful for.

My new single “Gay Angels” with a video starring my parents and brother is out today on @secretlycanadian ! And so is my entire debut album!!!! Oh, today! I am so thankful for it. To be able to share these songs that I love and to recognize myself in them. I always wanted to feel that way about my work but it hasn’t always been so! And for my friends to recognize me in it, too. For them to say, yes, that’s him, that’s who we know our friend to be! It’s a miracle to feel that. Another miracle is to have seen these songs BECOME because of the artists that created them with me. I am humbled by their talent, their work. And their love. And yet another miracle is to be sharing any of this. To have persisted and believed and to be letting this music go and be. I hope you FEEL these songs the way that I have. Or in ways I could never imagine. This is a celebration. Let’s go wild! This is me writing with The Attachment Theory for our new album Sharon Van Etten & The Attachment Theory wearing my faithful Sinéad O’Connor shirt.   Today redhot.org released TRAИƧA the album now available for preorder as a limited edition vinyl box set at transa.world and at the link in bio. TRANSA gathers 100+ artists in celebration of the gifts trans people give to the world. It was a beautiful and moving experience working with Ezra Furman, choosing the song, and collaborating with my friends Zach Dawes, Jay Bellerose, and Owen Pallett on this essential Sinéad O’Connor anthem that, to me, is about not feeling like the same person anymore, as well as not wanting to be the person that other people want to define. When I was asked to choose a song and collaborator, it was straight off the heels of reading ‘Why Sinéad O’Connor Matters’ by Allyson McCabe. I was deeply moved by their perspective of the book and wanted to honor Sinéad in some way.   Ezra Furman and I have been in the same circles for years, and I feel so fortunate that our circles finally intersected. We were able to collaborate from afar and share lines that held deep meaning to us. She met me emotionally at every juncture of the performances and I am so grateful to her for fitting in the recording during her hectic touring schedule. Photo by: @mutedfawn
