Josh and Katrina created this piece for the exhibition after we spoke about the direction of the show, and they were immediately on board, which means a lot.
I’ve been a fan of their work for years and have several of their drawings in my personal collection. Drawings are where my heart is as a collector, and that carries into how I work as a gallerist.

I’m happy to share that I was asked by the Southern Vermont Arts Center to jury an exhibition, 𝓟𝓻𝓮𝓵𝓾𝓭𝓮, drawn from an open call for their emerging artist members.
The work spans a wide range, from younger artists with limited exhibition history to more established artists shifting their work in new directions, each connecting to the idea of “emerging” in their own way.
Now on view through July 26, 2026.
Opening reception Saturday, May 23, 3–5 pm (RSVP).

Hexum Gallery (Montpelier, VT) presents Elizabeth Powell, whose paintings operate through a visual vocabulary in which abstracted shapes evoke bodily interiors, lingerie structures, and organic tension. Her hand-rendered nets, knots, ribbons, and corset-like closures suggest forms held in tension between protection and constraint, articulating in paint what is often difficult to describe with words: the complexity of feminine experience, containment, and release.

I saw two owl drawings in Phil’s studio earlier this year and fell in love. I asked him if I could have one for my show in April, but he said they were spoken for already (he’s in high demand). He also had to make new work for his NADA presentation this May so he was stretched pretty thin, but he would “see what he could do”. Three weeks later, he sent me a photo of this sweet baby and said it was mine.
