Sometimes, the most emotional stories in marathon running are not written at the front of the race but in the back. Meet Peter, 82 years old, who was kissing the finish line as last finisher of the 2024 Berlin Marathon, 50 years after finishing the very first Berlin Marathon in 1974. I’ve never stayed at the finish line for the very last runners but this time I did and I’m so glad I was there till the end. So many emotions and great achievements by every single one out there 👏

In 2022, I was in Berlin and got to shoot the moment Eliud Kipchoge broke the world record with that insane 2:01:09 time! 🤯 I was on the course, capturing everything from his intense pre-start focus to the exploding emotions at the finish line. Honestly, I was so pumped and nervous, I had difficulty focusing on taking photos 😅 The sheer energy and brilliance of his run was something else…
