The past year has been one of learning and adaptation. Migration also means rethinking how one works, unlearning, observing, and rebuilding. Returning to my professional practice has been one of the biggest challenges in a context where even the idea of returning changes, because the place we left also changes.
During this time my work has shifted away from what I previously knew, especially in Canada, which led me to explore Passive House and mass timber. Both come together in this proposal for a small dwelling that understands time as something that transforms it and the environment as a layer that gradually covers it.
Drawing from the traditional Mexican house and its logic of self-construction, the proposal uses prefabricated systems of walls, columns, and roofs with clay and tile finishes. It is a mix between what I bring with me and what I am learning through this process.
In 2022 @studiomuga helped me to edit this beautiful piece.
I didn’t remember that we also had done a photographic session.
Enjoy it ;)
If you have any editorial design for your futures projects we’ll be glad to work with you.
