HERE WE WILL BE

I’m so proud and excited to start sharing with you all what I’ve been working on for the past few weeks! 🌈 As some of you already know, I recently received a Research and Creation grant from the Canada Council for the Arts for a project that focuses on queer stories and places. As I move through the research stage of this project, I decided to create a page dedicated to the field investigation and visual documentation that is an integral part of this project and its creative process. I’ve called this part of the research “Here We Will Be”, as a way to anchor our queer futures in the spaces and times we currently exist in, as a way to bridge and blur the “here” with the “queer” and to intertwine our collective and individual memories with the places and spaces we claim and move through. BiG SiSSY (they/them) i met @da_bigsissy many years ago, at some event/fundraiser around 2018/2019 i think? i’ve been a fan of their music since then, and i love that our paths have been crossing over the years, and that i’ve had the chance to get to know them a bit more on a more personal level they are as incredible a performer and artist as they are passionate about creating spaces and events for Black queer and trans people to shine and take the space that they deserve, such as AFRO DRAG (@afro.drag ), and many more. highly recommend you follow them—and buy their music and catch one of their performances if you can! 🎞️ @elospock • théâtre fairmount, montreal • 26.04.2026

Ballsy (she/they) i also met Ballsy at @rockcampmontreal , back in 2017! that year was my first time being a main year round organizer and it was… intense, to say the least. not only was she an incredible band coach and instrument instructor (being the talented musician that she is), she was one of the most helpful (and hilarious) volunteers during camp week. we got closer over the years, particularly through the pandemic, and i’m so lucky to call them my friend to this day!
