i’m withdrawing from my performance at sxsw. instead i’ll be performing at @palhouseldn on thursday - all details in the link in bio.
very grateful for wonderful artists like @itslooroll , @ahmedeidmusic and @idrisi.ensemble for speaking out. 💜
‘the final countdown’ has always been one of my mum’s favorite songs, (something i’ve found amusing for as long as i remember), so i decided to learn it and include it in my set. she loves this song so much she said she wants it played at her funeral (though probably the original version, as she often teases me for my mellow style & she would totally deserve such a triumphant, camp exit). knowing her wish, the lyrics have taken on a much deeper meaning, resonating in ways i hadn’t expected.
i hope the day of her funeral is far, far in the future, but until then, she (and you) can enjoy my softer rendition. 💜

🐯Yessss Folk Queens! We have some fabulous news for you! 🐅
After a single Flash Folk night, and all the momentum of a very large (but very stagnant) WhatsApp community, we have finally made headway towards more Flash Folk events!
With support from Southwark Council, we will join 3 lucky Southwark based events to perform as well as enjoying joyous rehearsal sessions, snacks and chats. 💅
Do you know of any events in Southwark, in summer that would enjoy a performance from the boystrous, glamorous, underehearsed but oh-so-enthusiastic Flash Folk Choir?
Through our events and songs we aim to educate, include, entertain and perhaps politically activate, through participatory songs of labour, resistance and land.
P.s all are welcome to sing and join the choir. - we all start as strangers but end as pals. Chat invite through our bio. 💛
this is my manifesto for the year ahead. these are my devotions and my refusals. i am unbecoming everything that was never mine, and remembering everything i always was.
you may hold me accountable.
Fifty families in the UK hold more wealth than the rest of the country combined. While billionaires watch their fortunes soar, millions of us are struggling to pay for food, rent, and heating. This isn’t some tragic accident, it’s the result of deliberate political choices.
Successive governments have protected the interests of the billionaire class, the same elite who bankroll their parties and pull the strings of power. Our so called leaders are puppets, serving wealth instead of the people who put them in office.
It’s time to change that. A wealth tax is not just an option but a moral necessity. It’s how we ensure that no one in this country is forced into poverty while a handful hoard unimaginable riches. It’s how we build a society where everyone has the chance not just to survive, but to thrive.
P.s shoutout to the gorgeous people at @gndrising for their relentless work in the pursuit of social justice. It’s a privilege to join you 💚💜

Join us on October 27th. Let’s rise up together. Let’s make this government choose a side. Because we won’t accept a future where we all get poorer while a tiny minority takes more and more. @gndrising
We live in a dystopian world. A place so backwards, so fundamentally rotten, that saying everyone deserves a good life is considered crazy. Advocating for comfort, safety, dignity… is somehow controversial. It’s mocked. It’s attacked. It’s treated like some radical, deranged fantasy.
I feel insane. We’re made to feel insane, unreasonable, unrealistic, for daring to imagine a world without poverty, without war, without genocide, without state-sanctioned cruelty. War, poverty and genocide are spoken of like they’re natural forces. Inevitable. Justified. But they’re not. They’re the death of imagination. A total failure of humanity.
And while we drown in this moral collapse, vulgar nationalism and anti-migrant hate are pumped into our lives like poison. Lie after lie. Refugees in hotels! Lavish, luxurious lives! What a joke. What a fucking lie.
And even if they were in hotels… so what? God forbid people fleeing war, persecution, and disaster are treated with care. God forbid they’re allowed a moment of peace. God forbid they’re given shelter, a bed, a shower, a chance to breathe and find their footing in a new country.
Because in this twisted society, comfort is a crime if you’re the wrong kind of person. Instead of being angry at systems that hoard wealth and manufacture scarcity, we’re told to rage at people who have nothing. People already drowning in suffering. It’s obscene. We could and should be demanding an abundant life for every single person. Not scraps. Not survival. But thriving. Joy. Security. Rest.
Yes, we need to understand the fears and systems behind the hate. We need to dissect it. But let’s be very clear: advocating for someone’s hardship and suffering, as a moral position, is fucking disgraceful. It is beyond cruelty. It is beyond logic. It is anti-human.
We shouldn’t be treated like the unreasonable ones. We’re not crazy. We’re just not willing to accept a world built on dehumanisation and indifference. And we never will.
