April 29 I had the distinct pleasure of once again presenting the groundbreaking @hereisbetterdoc at @bedfordplayhouse for their Let’s Talk series. 🎞️Following the film friend & Emmy Award winning filmmaker/producer/writer Sian Edwards-Beal along with Laurie Ciavardini & Sarah Jane Casey of Endeavor Farm joined me for a profound talkback.I look forward to another soon! Thank you!!! ♥️ Thank you Dan Friedman & Marie Louise Scanlan from the Playhouse for welcoming us in with such warmth! 🥂 Thank you to the awesome Stephanie Schwartz of the HERE. IS. BETTER. team for always helping to facilitate our screenings & for the work the HIB non-profit does on behalf of the film itself & for the veteran community. 🙌 This is the 3rd screening Hit House Film had the privilege of presenting. Veteran or civilian, the film is a deeply hopeful exploration of treatment for those who suffer from the complications of PTSD. Vital & affirming, I’ll continue to share as often as possible. 🙏 As our military (both veteran & active duty) confronts a uniquely challenging time in this current chapter of American history, it’s even more important to ensure the film reaches those populations & that we as civilians connect with our service members to offer support where we can. 🇺🇸 To learn more about HIB (501c3), the work & support they provide on behalf of the film & veteran community visit: / If you or your organization is interested in presenting a screening, reach out to me directly. To learn more about the incredible mission of Endeavor Farm (501c3) & the range of equine programs they offer & specifically the veterans program established by Laurie Ciavardini visit: endeavorth.org It takes a village. 💪💫💥#documentary #veterans #ptsd #hope

HERE. IS. BETTER. comes to the Playhouse for an evening spotlighting resilience, healing, and the realities of PTSD. This powerful and hopeful documentary follows four veterans—each with different backgrounds and service experiences—as they undergo evidence-based trauma therapies. Their stories include former presidential candidate Jason Kander, a Vietnam Veteran confronting decades-old memories, and women Veterans whose experiences are too often overlooked. With unprecedented access to the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the film offers a rare look at both struggle and progress within America’s mental health crisis. A panel discussion led by Shane Killoran of Hit House Film will follow the screening.

Our partner, @returningveteransproject , recently wrapped their HERE. IS. BETTER. road show across the Pacific Northwest. RVP offers free, confidential, mental and physical health services to Veterans, Service Members, and Military Families in Oregon and SW Washington. They started with a screening in their home base of Portland, OR, and traveled over 1,000 miles during the past year to bring the film to communities in Florence, Roseburg, Forest Grove, and Walla Walla. At each stop, the RVP team shared these Veterans’ inspiring stories, facilitated meaningful discussion about PTSD, offered continuing education credits and resources, and served tasty snacks. We’re so grateful to RVP for spreading hope for PTSD to communities in such a powerful, personal way. If you are interested in bringing HERE. IS. BETTER. to your community, please get in touch at the link in bio.

Yesterday, our volunteer ambassadors Robert Casher and Jane Casher attended the @kentuckyveterans Veteran and Military Family Conference in Louisville, KY. They shared PTSD resources and raised awareness about our film HERE. IS. BETTER, encouraging Veterans and their families to take the next step toward treatment. Conversations like the ones Bob and Jane had at this conference are how stigma is reduced and pathways to care begin. Thank you to the KDVA for creating the opportunity to have these critical discussions, and to volunteers like Bob and Jane for helping move this work forward.

Today, we honor all Veterans for their bravery, sacrifice, and dedication. We also extend our heartfelt thanks to the Veterans and families we met during the making of HERE. IS. BETTER. Though your backgrounds and experiences differ, you each embody what it means to be a Veteran: courageous, resilient, and devoted to service. Thank you for sharing your stories; they continue to educate, inspire, and bring hope to so many. #VeteransDay

“Sunday’s community movie 🎥 screening of the documentary, HERE.IS.BETTER felt like the right time, right place kind of event.” Said, Community Partner Will Wagner. On a sunny afternoon at the coast, Team RVP was pleased to host a diverse group of SMVF and civilians. From VA Suicide Prevention Representatives, Lane County EMS and Florence’s Mayor Ward — attendance was a true testament to the W. Lane communities and their efforts to support both Suicide Prevention and Mental Health. Additional thanks to Steve Schneider (Alliance for a Safe Oregon) and W. Lane Mobile Crisis Team for your collaboration! RVP has new PNW Here.Is.Better screenings in the works. Keep an eye out for details. #mentalhealth #veteranmentalhealth #servicemembers #militaryfamilies #oregon #southwestwashington #rvp #freecare @hereisbetterdoc

Thank you to the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary and our amazing volunteer ambassadors, Bob and Jane Casher, for the opportunity to represent #hereisbetterdoc as a sponsor at last week’s DAV Auxiliary Fall Conference. We were honored to raise awareness about PTSD and its treatment, connect with incredible attendees, and share our mission of hope and healing. We’re excited to follow up with everyone who stopped by our table—and to continue bringing the message of hope for PTSD to even more communities in the months ahead.
