I struggle with dresses that feel like me. I’m not super feminine so finding something that dresses up but still feels straightforward is hard! I got lucky just in time for summer weddings this year!
Personal life has been a lot lately so even putting clothes on has not been easy, much less a fun outfit. But, this week I landed here with some fun crinkle nylon track pants and rib knit ballet flats dialled up with an oversized blazer and grounded with a simple cotton, rib shirt underneath. Texture and proportion are my friends here and adding the color pop with the red shoe lifted us up out of the neutrals.

I said I was going to dress in neglected clothes all week and tell everyone about it. And I almost succeeded! But truthfully, none of the outfits I scrambled together made me feel great, case in point as to why I no longer reach for those pieces. The only exception is these vintage cowboy boots I’ve had for years that collect dust in my closet most of the time. I’ve taken to wearing them once a week for the last few weeks and can say that they officially are safe from any closet clear out forever. The rest of the outfit is @aritzia and following a few of my hard and fast style rules. One color pop, some skin showing, and a balance of big and small proportions. And for some good friction, the satin skirt, paired with the oversized striped tee and then the boots, all unexpected partners, come together in a mix of textures. This one is comfy, fun, and the perfect sunny Friday outfit (in my opinion).

What did I wear to a Sunday morning disco party? Layers. And #powershoulders in a blazer. And @tibi Sid Jean (my confidence hack) and a super special piece of Colombian jewelry that if you ask about it, guaranteed tears. Comfort, confidence, chill, modern, classic.
Made it through another week! Somehow this spring transition has felt mentally tough so this week’s outfits were worn but not captured. Now that the sun is out, I feel like posting this wintery fit from 1.5 months ago to say goodbye to the cold, and get ready for the sunnier days ahead.

Felt cute, won’t delete later. I like to give myself challenges and this pleated mini skirt served one up for sure: how to wear one without feeling like a little school girl. I leaned into items like the oversized cashmere sweater and bright red sambas that would certainly not be uniform-approved and still felt like a grown adult in a fun outfit.

I call this one Backcountry Girl Moves To The City. Notice the Breakup Infinity Camo t-shirt, slouchy, denim jacket and Safety Orange socks nodding to my past growing up in rural British Columbia where folks hunt and fish to fill their freezers. I mixed these recognizable details with a bubble-hemmed, white skirt and Doc Marten loafers, decidedly NOT practical backcountry pieces because living in the city I can get away with it. 🙂

Elevated basics at the office today. This one is all about the fabric choices, turning otherwise basic and relaxed shapes, into an outfit worthy of the boardroom.
