I had the honour and privilege to play drums on the entirety of the new Spike Lee Joint movie ‘Highest 2 Lowest,’ starring Denzel Washington and A$AP Rocky.
The Fergus McCreadie Trio were invited to record in New York last November after Spike came across us on Instagram and subsequently came to hear us play in the Edinburgh Jazz and Blues Festival . Working with Spike and also incredible @howard.drossin , who wrote and produced the score for the movie, was life changing.
The movie will be in cinemas and Apple TV in September! There will also be a Trio EP soundtrack from the movie out very soon!

Widely regarded as a pioneer of the jazz-folk crossover style, pianist Dave Milligan is a “genre-defying, creative force” (The Scotsman). While audiences may know him best as the long-term collaborator of trumpeter Colin Steele or the mastermind behind The Unusual Suspects, CHROMA marks a significant new chapter.
This project sees Milligan stepping forward as a bandleader to present original music that celebrates the intersection of jazz and traditional roots. Milligan’s writing deliberately leaves expansive space for the individual voices within the ensemble to shine.With a powerhouse horn section and an elite rhythm team, CHROMA is a masterclass in musical dialogue. “Little Melonae puts together three of Scotland’s brightest Jazz talents.
Little Melonae are Harben Kay (tenor saxophone) Stephen Henderson @hendodrums (drums) and Brodie Laird-Jarvie @brodielaird_jarvie (acoustic bass). The trio explores repertoire from the likes of Jackie Mclean, Carla Bley, Alice Coltrane and Ornette Coleman.
Their sound draws upon the jazz post-bop tradition, allowing for free improvisation and explosive interplay. Formed in 2025, the band’s debut performance was to a sold-out audience at the iconic Jazz Bar in Edinburgh as part of the Jazz and Blues Festival.”
