Sustainability was central to the design of the @universityofhouston Auxiliary Retail Center, part of the larger Hub project, creating a student-focused dining and social destination built for long-term impact. Designed with exposed mass timber, the facility enhances campus amenities while prioritizing environmental responsibility through energy efficiency, water conservation, and sustainable material selection, with a target of LEED Silver certification.
Henderson Engineers supported the project through advanced clash detection modeling to carefully coordinate systems and minimize disruptions to the mass-timber structure, preserving both the building’s aesthetic and performance. By limiting structural openings to only essential fire protection piping, our team helped protect the integrity of the timber design while streamlining future maintenance and supporting long-term operational efficiency.
The completed project showcases how thoughtful engineering and sustainable design strategies can come together to create high-performing, student-centered spaces.

JHC Companies recently completed construction on this new retail space in collaboration with the talented teams at IA Interior Architects, Henderson Engineers and Generis Collective - bring a thoughtfully designed retail experience to life in one of the region’s premier shopping destinations.

The Las Vegas Aces Practice Facility & Headquarters was designed as a place of performance, recovery, and team culture for a new era of women’s professional sports. As the first facility built exclusively for a women’s professional basketball team, the space was thoughtfully designed to set a new standard for what dedicated women’s training environments can be.
Knowing optimal comfort in high-performance areas needed to be maintained, we were able to design specialized HVAC systems along with a robust electrical infrastructure that supports extensive lighting, broadcast, and training equipment. Careful attention to acoustics and sound control ensured a quiet, focused environment across all zones of the facility.
#TeamHenderson provided the design for multiple systems including the MEP, fire protection, acoustics, audio-visual, lighting, telecom, security services, and VHT.

A new cultural destination is coming to Central Arizona College’s main campus in Coolidge, AZ.
The @centralarizonacollege Cultural and Performing Arts Center is designed to bring together performance, education, and public gathering spaces - supporting students while creating an arts hub for the broader Pinal County community. The 95,850 SF, two‑story facility will include a 1,001‑seat performing arts center, flexible banquet and conference space, recording studios, culinary and arts classrooms, and outdoor areas with desert and mountain views. The project replaces the former Pence Performing Arts Center and expands the campus’s ability to host both educational programming and traveling productions.
