Some messy memories from our week in Cannes ❤️🌪️ Thank you to @festivaldecannes for having us! Thank you to the hod team and actors I love you and admire each of you so much it’s wild. Finallyyyy, the cat is out of the bag!!! My MA graduation film got selected to Cannes, as a part of La Cinef Selection (their program for student films).
The film deals with bottling up one’s emotions; there is three generations of women in one house and a big storm (I love storm videos and lightnings). Everything kind of revolves around the idea of how energy never disappears, it just changes form.
I remember waaay back reading a poem by Tua Forsström, it was about this old woman who laid on broken glass and did not hurt. It was so moving to me and I wanted to make a film where this character is present somehow.
Anyway, I’m eternally thankful for the team and everyone who helped us in any way. ❤️

Preview day for this summer dream film ’Burning Underwater’ (Liekkinä vedessä) ❤️ This film has been such a lesson!! I wrote down some guidelines for myself at a nervous, disconnected moment last spring:
1. Trust the house, it will show you the way.
2. Trust the people, try to make a frame where their magic and work can come to life.

Also Aino took me to see Mitski in Berlin and I fell for her dramatic/silly dancing and performing again 🌈🤍 @ilonaaino was our local guide in berlin and @jottalohanna in adam, what a blessing??
