Working on a new project that references this series of portraits I originally did for @variety a few years back. I still really like them so thought I'd give them some light again. Click through to 👀 them all .

I found out yesterday the very sad news that @studiotstella had passed away. I neither knew Tony nor ever spoke to him but, as an illustrator who paints a lot of portraits, every time I saw his work he left a huge impact. So effortless, so talented. A generational skill. Condolences to his family and frequent collaborators.

New piece where I treat myself to not having to paint the portraits in-between commissions. This time for @paulthomasanderson multi Oscar winning 'One Battle After Another.' Would love to work on some more collage commissions this year.

Another piece from my experiments with motion portraits. Created from a series of hand painted portraits of the same face, celebrating the beauty in a looser, analogue mark making.

Uncovered this portrait I did of @anthonyjoshua . A little reminder to myself to play more with moving image this year.

10 yrs gone. I've done a few Bowie portraits over the years, this is one of the earliest and seemed fitting for the anniversary. The world truly did go to sh*t when you died.

First week back in the studio in '26 . My motto for this year is 'More Play.' with that in mind I'm resharing one of my favourite examples of playing around from last year - my @waltergogginsofficial portrait from @thewhitelotus . Happy New Year!

I am thinking of selling some small scale prints from the Song of the Week project. Here is my portrait of Prince as an example. If you'd be into it let me know below. #prince

Following on from my last post about a new project for @fastcompany I thought I'd show you a little more. 99% of my commercial work is all analogue, but brought together digitally to create the final output. Here for example are the isolated portraits from that project. These are then scanned and composed, with other hand painted elements, to make the finished piece. Why? It's easier for me AND for the client. Little tweaks and amends are fast. Ideas can be tried out without damaging an original painting. It's the best of both worlds. The beauty of analogue mark making with the efficiency of digital editing.

Another 💥new project💥, this time a series of painted portraits for @fastcompany . The article focused on 20 of the most influential people in AI this year. I'm pretty sure it's out now. #illustrationartist #behindthescenes #paintingportraits

Following on from last week's post about my recent work for @stanfordgsb it occured to me people never get to see the details of the portraits as up close as I do. When painting these there can be a lot of joy in a minor brush mark landing well. Or in the way the looser marks sit up against tighter portraiture. Some spontaneity up against control. I don't know about you but when I'm really busy I don't have time to post here. Then when I get a break, I 'm too busy enjoying the break to post here. Anyway, here's another project from a very busy Summer this time for @stanfordgsb to celebrate their centennial. Overall there were 20 something individual portraits highlighting some of their highest achieving graduates over the 100 years, a small number of which you can swipe through here.
