VENUS / REBIRTH for @photovogue ✨ “Venus Rebirth” by Imraan Christian is a colour and emotion study inspired by the mythological phoenix, representing transformation and rebirth. Set within the “Ma Se Kinders” universe, it symbolises the process of rising from the ashes, using fire as a metaphor for change. Drawing from Sufi mysticism, the series explores colour, performance, and composition to convey the emotions tied to cycles of death and rebirth. It embraces the triptych, using groups of three to reflect nature’s patterns from roots to fire to seed. “Ma Se Kinders,” the larger project housing “Venus Rebirth,” aims to create a new mythology rooted in indigenous knowledge and decolonization. Inspired by his Cape Town community, Imraan Christian and his team have developed “Ma Se Kinders” into a decade-long project, creating a mythological universe with diverse characters, themes, and ideas. In a time where indigenous voices are under threat globally, “Venus Rebirth” serves as a meditation on faith, unity, and the eternal.
