Well Nice Prints (@wellniceprints ) is an independent screen-printing studio based in Norwich. They work closely with artists to translate ideas into limited edition prints that they make in-studio, by hand. When I met their studio director, Jo Stafford, she told me that she was inspired by gig posters in the US and seeing the culture of how designers worked with bands she loved.
Speaking about her favourite part of her work, she said it was the problem solving aspect and how she's still learning about the craft years later.
I'm super grateful for the chance to visit last November, where I got to chat with Jo and watch her do some test prints. She handled her screens and squeegee with such ease and familiarity (while I just kept getting in the way) that I could see her 20+ years of printmaking experience at work. It's pretty inspiring to meet creators who still believe in dedicating themselves to a craft that others might believe is dead or out of date. Thanks @jostafford for the chat!

Illustrator @joeyruthers makes tiny ceramic pieces of the "strange" and beautiful, including tiny houses, cats, UFOs and pickles. In fact, her piece titled 'Pickle Scream' (slide 5, Edvard Munch-inspired) had just exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition last year!
When I visited her East London home studio, she was in the midst of getting ready for a busy season of Christmas markets. As she spoke candidly about the realities of boothing year round, I gained a newfound respect for artists and small business owners and the all-consuming work that they do. On a chilly yet sunny morning last November, I met @shiodrawing at Hampstead Heath for a chat about her art journey. Her illustrations draw heavily from observing people and places in London, a place she's called home for the past few years. With a background in architecture, she is inspired by the city's rich history and the balance of urban and green spaces.
I am particularly fond of her 'Lost in London' series, where she chooses a limited colour palette to portray how she feels as she walks around the city. Reading her personal reflections alongside her illustrations of iconic London sights, I am excited to follow along as she continues to document London in her own personal and unique way.
