The Make it Rain project and in particular the installation « Brick Garden » together with our friends @brasebin.terrisse for @concentricofestival will be displayed this Thursday 11/12 at @galleryhouse.zurich (Quellenstrasse 27, 8005 Zürich) during the Ephemeral Agents international symposium.

Featured in the book, Make it rain by Brussels-based architects Quentin Gérard, Guillaume Deman, Elisabeth Terrisse de Botton and Matthieu Brasebin —who have taken part in both Horst and Concéntrico— creates an urban microclimate by cooling a brick surface with water from the Ebro River, reinterpreting vernacular techniques and fostering collective participation.

Together with @hello_makeitrain , we experimented with new ways to bring collectively water to a climatic device. The proximity to the Ebro river became an opportunity to bring back water into the site with kayaks from the nearby water club, 700L were transported to the circular basin. PREMIS AJAC 2025 - ARQUITECTURA EFÍMERA “Un jardín de ladrillos basa la seva estratègia en la refrigeració de les ciutats en plena crisi climàtica gràcies a l’ús de les propietats tèrmiques del maó en contacte amb l’aigua. En el marc de Concéntrico, de durada limitada i sense garantia de pluja, es treballa amb l’aigua de l’Ebre com a font del projecte, imaginant la recollida d’aigua com un moment col·lectiu i participatiu gràcies a l’ajuda de l’associació local “Ebroño”. La proposta s’instal·la al pati del Museu de La Rioja, un espai pavimentat exposat al sol i protegit del vent. L’habitem en un ambient informal compost per un sòl de maó, un tèxtil per protegir del sol i un pou per emmagatzemar l’aigua recuperada del riu. Igual que un jardí, una sèrie de regadores estan a disposició dels usuaris per mullar els maons i així refrescar l’espai. FURNITURE_To invite the experience, we designed lightweight, modular furniture. To become a witness to the phenomenon of evaporation, visitors are encouraged to adopt either active or passive postures. Lighting acts as a visual beacon at the heart of the installation, extending the experience beyond the site’s opening hours. GROUNDWATER_For the past few years, rainwater has been unable to infiltrate the ground and has been accumulating in the museum’s patio. A sump pump was installed to redirect this water to the sewer system. We now propose to repurpose the pump to fill a new storage tank, using the patio as a reservoir of cool water. This would allow the Mundaneum teams to independently manage the amount of water used for the installation.
