Storm Nijhuis (@hellion.sin ), a design student from the Amsterdam Fashion Institute currently on a minor exchange at SST in Sweden, takes tufting to bold new heights in their latest project.
Exploring experimental draping, Storm used a tufting machine to create organic-shaped patterns, connecting them to form wearable, daring silhouettes. The result? Garments that celebrate the human form with a unique blend of sensuality and ruggedness.
This project pushes the boundaries of tufting by transforming it into a tool for dynamic design, challenging the expectations of traditional fashion. With unexpected shapes and textures, the collection captures a raw yet refined aesthetic that reimagines how we see textiles and the body.

In MOTHER, a collaborative project by design students from the Amsterdam Fashion Institute and SST Sweden, @hellion.sin and @all_else reinterpret the complexities of motherhood through bold dye and print techniques. Drawing inspiration from a 17th-century book on pregnancy, the collection explores the raw reality of birth — its beauty, struggles, and body horror. The result is a powerful visual narrative that confronts the duality of creation with hauntingly beautiful designs.

ANIMA OBSCURA
A FASHION EDITORIAL BY STORM NIJHUIS & DENISE BAKKER
The editorial Anima Obscura portrays the confrontation with the dark Anima; the repressed feminine side within the male psyche. Defined by Carl Jung, she represents the internal feminine archetype, the Anima as a powerful, often hidden, force that influences emotion, intuition, and sensitivity. Through neglect, she can become known as the “Death Demon”, or “Femme Fatale”, and shows up as a shadow: a seductive and destructive presence.
The narrative of Anima Obscura plays between a dream and nightmare. The characters find themselves on a stage, caught in a surreal performance directed by their shadows.

MIDTERM COLLECTION LOOK 3 During this Midterm i have explored experimental draping through making organic shaped patterns with tufting.
The idea was to lay tufted pieces on the body and connect them to make it wearable and interesting.
The goal of the project is to challenge tufting through unexpected shapes and create daring silhouettes.
