Sooooo I am in a magazine. Such a weird experience. Not because of them. They were all hella cool. For years I tried to get media attention to help bring people out to my events so we could donate more $$$$. Not a soul in San Jose ever said yes. Kenzie from Dope Era (rip) used to hook me on promo for years then call me to talk hella ish about it 🤣🤣🤣🤣. He helped me a lot. The only folks that ever wrote about me was on some independent hip hop love. Thank you @tony.blanko@richtycoonao@weareao for that genuine love. I met some sincerely dope people last night and also encountered mostly uppity rich microaggressive art snobs. Not mad at anyone but it was a lot. If I wasn’t a vendor I would have left in 5 minutes. I did have some awesome conversations about books, venue struggles and finding our people. San Jose is such a mixed bag. Not mad at it. Not in love with it. It is also weird to me how much other people are into tangible bs. Respectfully I am meh about this, shit I really care about the scholarships I raised, the voter education I have done, performing for students, my lecture about women in hip hop, be juiced about that for me. The crowd last night was mostly uncomfortable with my fuck the man fight the power book selection. It is not my goal to make people uncomfortable, but if you are, shots fired, grow damn it. Today’s adventure part 2 supporting the VSA/LEAP first joint graduation ceremony. Congratulations to the class of 2026. A lot of the graduates are international students and my teacher Dr. Cindy was encouraging folks to come support them. Challenge accepted. Because this is an Asian party they fed us sooooo much food.
