A couple of years ago I started digging even deeper into the Bay Area sound and one of the groups that instantly grabbed my attention was Black Dynasty out of East Oakland. Every time I explore this region of Cali I end up discovering another layer of raw and soulful Hip Hop history. The Bay really built its own universe and over the years it has become one of my absolute favorite scenes to dive into.
Black Dynasty was made up of brothers Kariem Abdullah and Dion Stewart, two cats who carried that authentic East Oakland energy from the late 80s into the early 90s. Their second album “Deep East Oakland” stands as their defining moment and stands as a true underground Bay releases from that era in my opinion. Heavy drums, street knowledge, funk soaked production and that unmistakable Oakland flavor all over the record.
The project opened doors for live shows alongside @mchammer and @tooshort , giving them real momentum locally before tragedy struck. Dion Stewart sadly lost his life during an attempted robbery, cutting short what could have become something much bigger on a worldwide scale. Even without mainstream recognition, Black Dynasty earned deep respect throughout their region and among collectors who truly know Bay Area rap history.
Huge respect to @helladoperecords for bringing this masterpiece back to life. This is a label that genuinely puts heart and soul into preserving Bay Area culture and giving forgotten classics the shine they always deserved. The care they put into the product is second to none. Finally the collection feels a little more complete. Having the honor of working with @blackc and releasing the timeless classic “Ruthless By Law” is something we truly value. You would have to search long and hard to find a more solid and professional collaboration.
@rblposse is without question one of the rawest groups to ever come out of the Bay Area and personally one of my all time favorites. That unmistakable Hunters Point energy, the heavy production and the authentic street poetry still hit just as hard today.
Black C deserves endless respect for the work he has put in since the late 80s throughout the 90s and still to this day. Not only is he a true craftsman behind the boards and the mic, but also a true talent scout with an incredibly sharp ear for authentic Hip Hop and future greatness.
And trust me… this man still has plenty of music in the vault. More heat is coming later this year so sit back and enjoy what he is about to deliver.
Rest in peace Hitman and Mr. Cee. Your names, voices and contributions to the culture will never be forgotten.

The year is 95’ and a young and incredibly sharp Hitman steps out with his debut solo project Solo Creep. A rock solid effort and easily one of the dopest underground albums to come out of the Bay in that era. This was one of the talents Black C believed in early, signing him and taking him under his wing, and you can hear that guidance all over this record. A pure underground classic that feels genuinely rare to own in the collection.
Tragically this gifted rapper left us after a drive by shooting in Hunters Point Frisco back in 2003. That makes it feel especially right that my homie @helladoperecords put in the work to give this gem a proper repress. This is a record that has been on heavy rotation on Spotify for years, and it feels great to play it calihot on wax.
No fillers here. Just raw gangsta rap from start to finish. The production is off the hook and Hitman glides over the beats like it is the most natural thing in the world. If you are a fan of the genre, this is not one to sleep on. Much respect to everyone involved in bringing this back the right way. Rest in paradise champ 🙏

The sound is of the more raw kind and here you get pure gangsta rap delivered by the real deal. He gathers an arsenal of rappers from west to south who will be able to leave their mark on the record. @jtthebiggafigga , @sanquinn415 , @cmurder and @silkktheshocker on the same record is unique at this time. The production sounds good and behind the levers @masterp and @lilric_yeeurbanapparel_ do most of the work themself. Fantastic to own early No Limit releases like this on wax! The year is 95’ and we are going to revisit a highly overlooked jewel! The record that will get its well-deserved spin on the turntable today is @sfbigmack ‘s debut «A Better Way». I thought the shock factor had worn off on these hidden gems, but it certainly hasn’t! The instrumentals that are delivered track by track are simply silky smooth and the Bay sound is a fact right from the start. Magic is created when solid and musical geniuses meet on this project. Mack does a flawless job behind the mic and with an arsenal of artists from the same area they create a clear underground classic. Record of the day! The year is 95’ and we will be introduced to a duo who create magic in the studio. Rappin’ Ron & Ant Diddley Dog did an underground classic in their only album «Bad N Fluenz»! The way these guys complement each other is perfect and together they show once again why Oakland must be recognized as one of the dopest areas for Hip Hop. Local artists like @tooshort , Seagram, Mr. Ill, and Streethugs also contribute strong verses on this record. When this pot of quality gets to spit on the production that is delivered here, there is little that can go wrong. Even @realantbanks is playing behind the levers on several of the tracks here. @helladoperecords knows this area better than most and sent me a fantastic package including two rare 7 inch’s.
