Being on The Simpsons: A Star is Born Again’ March 2nd 2003 was the moment my career peaked ( even if I did have a snout and no one in Karge’s book club had read the book) Just downhill all the way ever since. I’ve never known a nicer, less egotistical group of writers, pitching startlingly funny lines whilst eating startlingly terrible food. It always seemed miraculous, given their collective geniuses, ( geniae?’ ) that they were so unpretentious and not full of themselves. They seemed more interested in which pizza than whose joke as long as it was the funniest joke. The table- read was nerve- wracking. The Year of Narcissism unfortunately began a year ago with thrilling shoot for Grazia magazine and subsequent utter destruction of character and writing motivation. Realized in was much more fun posing around having hair and make up done , flinging myself around in fake animal prints, trying on clothes , parading on red carpets and going on and on about self and work on tv than sitting alone in feral state doing writing. It got so bad that I realized if I was talking to a friend about something which wasn’t either a) me or b) Bridget Jones I sort of … drifted off: I went away for a while to an island where no one gave a sh**about me and hadn’t heard of Bridget Jones and both my hair and I looked crazy.
