On Sunday afternoon nearly 30 of us gathered at the foot of a river red gum that’s thought to be more than 500 years old on @wurundjeri Country at @heidemoma
A humbling way to start our beautiful walk through the Yaluk Langa gardens with Wurundjeri Educator and Yorta Yorta and Boonwurrung man, Chris Hume. Together we explored the interdependence of culture and ecology, learned new words, and fostered a deep respect for the histories and resilience of Country.
Our walk led us back to @heidekitchen just as the sun began to hang low in the sky. A 4-course meal crafted by @itsourtable and @the.wandering.chef await, each plate a direct reflection of the season and daily Heide garden harvest.
The energy surrounding each table was palpable – a group of (mostly) strangers who came together to learn, to dine, and to connect.

Supper Hike is a seasonal gathering designed to deepen our relationship with place; a slow unfolding of movement, story, and shared nourishment. An invitation to walk, listen, and gather, this experience explores connection, conservation, and collective healing through the simple act of coming together.
The evening begins on foot, guided by Wurundjeri knowledge holders through the Yaluk Langa gardens, offering space to learn from the land and its living history — the native culture, plants, and ecologies that shape this place.
As dusk settles, we come to the table. A shared meal crafted by @itsourtable and @heidekitchen draws directly from the surrounding landscape, featuring native ingredients and produce harvested from the Heide gardens. The flavours tell a story of where we are, honouring the ground beneath us and the season that holds us.
A shared moment led by place, presence, and the rhythms of the land.
