As we lead up to @NCECA , we will be introducing each of the 60 artist pairs participating in Ceramics x Fiber. We are excited to see the results of their collaborations! Follow to learn more. Exhibition information linked in bio. Jacob Vinson (he/him) @old_man_science Jackknife Caterpiller Jacob Vinson is an artist originally from the high desert of Wyoming. He received his BFA in ceramics from Utah State University in Logan, Utah in 2009, and earned his MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan in 2021. Jacob’s work centers around the ceramic vessel- its historical, functional, and aesthetic roles. As an artist, he seeks to engage with the material science of clay, embracing both traditional processes and experimental approaches to form, surface, and firing. His studio practice reflects a curiosity about the intersections of craft, materiality, and contemporary ceramics. Heather Macali (She/Her) @heathermacali VIBGYOR, 2024, Wool yarn, paint, and pine frame, 16” x 14.5” x 3” Heather Macali is an artist, craftsperson, & educator based in Detroit, MI. Recently, she participated in 6 local exhibitions and 5 national exhibitions, co-curated ‘Fiber Flux’ at the College for Creative Studies & led multiple workshops in the fiber arts field. In February 2025 she debuted a new body of work, ‘Structured Color’ in Palos Hills, IL. Works that cross the boundaries of medium will always create a conversation. These pieces are textural, visual playgrounds where there’s always more than meets the eye. In our partnership with @art_clvb , they’ve curated a stunning selection of original works that pushes fiber art beyond traditional tapestries and macramé. These works explore texture, color, and form in unexpected ways. Some of our favorites now on view at GW HOME and available for purchase: 💫 Pools of Light & Shadow No. 6, Katie Mongoven, Fibers, 37”x 25” 💫 Yellow to Pink to Aqua, Heather Macali, Fibers, 39” x 22” 💫 More Than Meets the Eye, Katie Mongoven, Fibers, 24” x 24” 💫 The Dream Is Always the Same (Day), Katie Mongoven, Fibers, 22” x 19” These works invite you to touch with your eyes, explore with your imagination, and rethink what fiber art can be. #contemporaryart #fiberart #fiberartist #texturalart #curatedhome #detroit
