Jackknife Caterpiller
Jacob Vinson is an artist originally from the high desert of Wyoming. He received his BFA in ceramics from Utah State University in Logan, Utah in 2009, and earned his MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan in 2021.
Jacob’s work centers around the ceramic vessel- its historical, functional, and aesthetic roles. As an artist, he seeks to engage with the material science of clay, embracing both traditional processes and experimental approaches to form, surface, and firing. His studio practice reflects a curiosity about the intersections of craft, materiality, and contemporary ceramics.
