This last week was the peak of spring racing - am I right? Between records at Boston, London, and all the other races in-between for my athletes, it’s given me a rush of racing excitement.
@larrycustod.io ,
@knicholson38 ,
@heapsofrunning and
@jillwheaps all raced through Salt Lake City in the half and full marathons. This was a great way for all of them to practice racing without the pressure of performance as we prepare for different races in the coming months.
➡️ This is one of my favorite race-prep strategies. Don’t be afraid to utilize local races to help you practice everything about race day and provide an easy place to put it in a big training stimulus.
@nattilalayants got a once in a lifetime experience racing the London Marathon with a VIP experience from New Balance! Even though we haven’t been able to push training as much as we would ideally be able to due to some nagging aches and pains, Nati did a wonderful job staying positive and soaking up the race environment regardless. PB’s aren’t everything. Proud of her for this finish!
@running_to_50 snagged a new personal best at the Kentucky Half Marathon, running a pace that used to be her 10k race pace when we first started working together a few years ago. So proud of the progress she has made and continues to make!
@candace.sharp ran a 36 minute personal best in the marathon (yay fueling!!). Her race was extra impressive as she ran a nearly solo effort on a 13 loop course to win The Great Woods Marathon in a 3:09 for her first BQ finish 👊🏼
@rn_skier raced the Bengal Sprint Triathlon, finishing SO strong. She has put in dedicated, thoughtful work to improve her form in swimming and running and also improve her fitness + all-around strength. It’s starting to come together and I can’t wait to see how the rest of the summer goes for her.
@emilymon_ raced the Coldwater Traverse with me (it’s so fun to be able to rub shoulders with my athletes in person!!). She finished in 3rd place and ran strong, controlled, and solid throughout. Exactly what we were looking for.
