Healing starts here! Earlier this week, we gathered hundreds of supporters in New York City to celebrate the ripple effect of healing made possible through our mission.
Hosted by @sethmeyers and presented by Carlisle Companies, the evening honored former Navy SEAL Frank Larkin with the 2025 Moral Courage Award, presented by President Bill Clinton — a moving tribute to Frank’s leadership in reducing the stigma around seeking help, and to his son Ryan’s legacy of service and sacrifice.
We were moved by Major Geoff Ball’s story of resilience and healing, and proud to recognize Dr. Blair Cano, U.S. Navy Veteran and Headstrong clinician, as our Distinguished Clinician of the Year.
The night also included powerful performances by @shobean and reflections from Headstrong CEO Dan Kaepernik and Co-Founders @zachiscol and Al Rabil, reminding us why this work matters: because healing one veteran changes countless lives.
To every guest, partner, and donor — thank you for standing with us!

Mission in Action 2026 is officially underway in Virginia Beach. This multi-day gathering brings together partners, clinicians, supporters, and leaders from across sectors to strengthen conversations around veteran mental health and PTSD treatment.
Last night, we kicked things off at the Historic Cavalier Hotel. In partnership with @hanksforourtroops , we welcomed guests for an evening centered on connection, collaboration, and the work ahead.
Thank you to everyone who helped open the week, especially @repjenkiggans ; Mayor Bobby Dyer of Virginia Beach; and Waco Hoover of @hanksforourtroops .
Today’s Partner Summit gives attendees a closer look at how evidence-based PTSD treatment is delivered, the modalities helping veterans move forward, and the conversations shaping the future of veteran mental health care.
Now is the time to take action and move this work forward.

Major Geoff Ball’s story reflects what so many in our military community are carrying right now. After Afghanistan, the impact didn’t stay behind. It followed him home and into every part of his life, shaping how he showed up each day.
There are countless veterans facing that same reality. Living with PTSD, navigating the weight of what they’ve experienced, and trying to find a way forward with their mental health.
Now is the time to act. Help ensure veterans have access to trauma-focused care that meets them where they are and helps them move forward. Donate today at the link in our bio.

May is Military Caregiver Month, a time to honor the hidden heroes who step up daily to support those who have served. Military caregivers navigate complex systems, carry the weight of trauma, and show up, again and again, even when no one’s watching.
To every spouse, parent, sibling, friend, and partner who stands beside a service member or veteran, please know how much we appreciate you this month and always.

This Military Appreciation Month, we’re honoring the service members who protect our freedoms and the veterans who have carried that commitment forward. To kick off the month, we’re recognizing the veterans on our team who continue to serve in meaningful ways.
Tahlia dos Santos, Daniel Kaepernik, Robin Myers, LMSW, and AJ Veal - your service didn’t end when you took off the uniform. You carry it forward every day through the work you do to help fellow veterans navigate life after trauma.
Your leadership and perspective strengthen our mission and drive real impact for those we serve. We're grateful for you this month and always.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re shining a light on the need for veteran mental health care.
At The Headstrong Project, we provide barrier-free PTSD treatment that helps veterans move forward. More veterans are reaching out, and access to care depends on people willing to take action. If you’ve been thinking about making a contribution, now is the time.

“What I valued most about being a military brat was the diversity, constant change, and exposure to so many different people and experiences. It taught me to adapt quickly, connect easily, and understand the weight military families carry, including my own. Some of my favorite memories were at Onslow Beach on Camp Lejeune, the place that first made the ocean feel like it would always be home. Those early experiences shape how I show up today with awareness, compassion, and respect for the stories people hold.” - Sam Getha, LCSW, Clinical Care Coordinator
Happy Military Brats Day to all the military brats on our team!

“I was a pretty shy child, and constantly moving was hard growing up. Looking back, I’m so grateful for the opportunity to see new places and meet so many people. It taught me how to talk to anyone about anything (early therapy skill development!) and appreciate what these men and women go through to protect our country. I gained a deeper understanding of the phrase ‘I’m proud to be an American,’ a song I learned and performed in middle school at Holloman AFB, NM - by far the most impactful duty station of my life." - Kathryn Dosch, LPC, Senior Director of Clinical Network Operations
Happy Military Brats Day to all the military brats on our team!

“My favorite part of being an Army brat was the excitement of each new duty station. What felt like an adventure to me as a child, I now see as resilience in my own Army brat daughter. With every PCS move, they learn adaptability, seeing change not as disruption, but as opportunity.” - Kristen Rheinlander, Director of Corporate Partnerships
