ππ THANK YOU HAYDEN ππ
Hayden has been part of our Youth Reference Group since November 2015, almost 10 years of service. He is finishing up at the end of the year, but we wanted to take the time to celebrate all the excellent work and everything he has been a part of, including some throwback pics π
With his time, he is most grateful for being able to help young people in the Sutherland Shire. He is also grateful for the connections and good friends he has made. Heβs been involved with many exciting projects, groups, helping people get their licenses and with resumes, seeing them enter the workforce.
In honor to celebrate him we were able to give a certificate and flowers. We have now named our group room Haydenβs Room, to recognize the hard work and dedication of almost 10 years of volunteering. This achievement will be shared far and wide to commend the amazing Hayden! π£π
This isn't goodbye, we hope to invite Hayden to join our Family and Friends Reference Group, we are so thankful for you Hayden πππ

Today is IDAHOBIT- The International Day Against LGBTQIA+ Discrimination π³οΈβππ
On May 17th every year, we acknowledge that on this date in 1990, homosexuality was removed from the WHO Classification of Diseases. Over three decades later, LGBTQIA+ communities still face multiple forms discrimination. Knowing how to support our LGBTQIA+ friends in community is transformative to making our communities feel safer, more welcoming and supportive! We hope these tips begin conversations about how you can be an ally in daily life.
For more information on IDAHOBIT or information on supports for queer youth, check out @minus18youth or the IDAHOBIT website: .au/about-may-17/
Happy IDAHOBIT!! π³οΈβππ³οΈβππ³οΈβπ #youth #Pride #lgbtqia #queer
At the beginning of May, we said goodbye to our amazing Clinical Manager, Adrian, as he wrapped up his time at headspace Miranda!π₯Ίππ
Adrian joined headspace Miranda 4.5 years ago as a PSS Clinician (MHC), where he provided support to many young people and families. Over time, he stepped into the Clinical Educator role, and eventually becoming the Clinical Manager in 2023. In this role, Adrian oversaw the clinical team at Miranda, supporting clinicians and the wider team, contributing to key projects, and maintaining strong and meaningful stakeholder relationships.
We have been so thankful to Adrian for all his work at headspace Miranda and will miss his never-ending support, guidance, humour and wisdom! The whole team wishes him all the best and congratulates him as he embarks on the next chapter of his career!
Thank you for everything, Adrian!! ππ
headspace Miranda and Hurstville are so excited to share that Ostara Australia has joined our team as Work and Study specialists! ππποΈ
Leila from Ostara Australia (see in video) will be in our centres rotating fortnightly Thursdayβs, where she will be working with young people who want to develop their work and study goals!
We are so excited about this partnership and expanding support to young people in the Sutherland Shire and St George Regions!!
If you want to learn more about Ostara Australia, call 1300 OSTARA or visit .au

That's a wrap on Youth Week for 2026!!πππ
Youth Week was amazing this year and we loved being apart of all the different events that were being held across the Sutherland Shire! We hope you were all able to join in on some and have fun with the different activities!
A huge shoutout to our Youth Reference Group members for being involved in these events. We learnt new skills, activities and met wonderful people- there's nothing better!
We encourage everyone to continue with the Youth Week theme, and to 'Dream. Dare. Do'!!

This week, headspace Miranda turned 12!π
To celebrate, our staff, partners and YRG, got together for a morning walk and picnic by the ocean. This was an amazing opportunity to slow down and celebrate the amazing work that is done in this space every single day, as well as soak in some beautiful sun and ocean air!ππ
A huge shoutout should go to our wonderful Youth Reference Group member, Jennifer, who made the most delicious cupcakes and beautiful balloons for the day. The team truely appreciated her dedication to the day and the time and effort she put into organising!
We are so excited to have celebrated this massive milestone (being at the age to access the service!) and canβt wait to continue doing meaningful work in the future!

headspace Miranda will be closed for the ANZAC Day Public Holiday on Monday the 27th of April and will reopen from 9am on Tuesday the 28th of April.
headspace Miranda would like to pay tribute to the brave people who have served and continue to serve our country. We would also like to acknowledge the importance of creating a safe space to talk about mental health. There is no shame in experiencing mental ill-health or tough times β the bravest thing you can do is to seek support π

If you need support during the public holiday, visit eheadspace.org.au. Here you can access online resources as well as one-on-one support 7 days a week from 9 am to 1 am.

Recently, our family reference group held a round table about AI and young people, we had an incredible conversation around the impacts of AI on young people and how family can help.
This chat covers what some of our concerns are around young people and AI, and this series will continue on our insta's to help share the current AI questions and answers

A day at TEDx SutherlandβΊοΈππ
@tedxsutherland_
headspace Miranda was fortunate enough to join in the fun at the first TED event in the Sutherland Shire at Innaburra High School today!! We held a Quietspace and an interactive stall and had important conversations surrounding wellbeing, how to build relationships with communities and making intentional changes to your life.
A huge applause should go to all the speakers and MCs for facilitating amazing conversations! Another shoutout goes to our Youth Reference Group members Izzy and Sarah for being involved and helping facilitate our activities!
We are so thankful to have been involved in this event and eager to continue to have meaningful conversations in the future!
