Grateful to call this my full time job. Shooting, editing, creating, telling stories. These are from our Toast to Santa Monica event. I tried to keep the edits under 100 but ended up with 150, and this was actually the least I’ve ever shot at an event. No full memory cards, two cameras, just being present. I even got to shoot alongside one of my MVG kids which made it that much more special. This one felt like our Super Bowl. Doesn’t get bigger than this for us. I got to connect with donors and sponsors, have real conversations, and even open doors for future work with their teams. I can feel myself taking the right steps, but the battle in my mind is still there. Some days I lose. Then I create and for a moment it all quiets down. That feeling never lasts as long as I want it to, but the fact that it exists at all reminds me there’s more to keep going for. Watching these kids grow up is the part that hits the hardest. Some are heading off to college, moving on from the club. They’re not my kids, but I feel it. I’m proud of them. Proud I got to be a small part of their story. This one meant everything to me.

“Pressure doesn’t change people, it reveals them.” April tested me. I’ve been moving different lately, stepping into spaces I didn’t expect and balancing everything in a way that’s not always clean. Our big event is this Friday and it’s strange, I don’t feel that usual urgency. Maybe it’s confidence. Maybe I’m just tired. Either way, I know the work is gonna speak for itself. The kids been calling me a traitor not seeing them like before… that part hits. I miss them. I hope they know that. Money has been tight this month, just saving and handling what needs to be handled. No extras. But it’s setting something up. Got trips lined up later this year and finally starting to see Santa Monica apartment listings pop up. That next chapter is getting real. Creatively, I feel the shift. Concert photography has been on my mind. Appreciation to Kanoa and Hippie HxA for trusting me with their vision. Seeing my work used for marketing and covers is still crazy to me. Been reaching out to more artists too, we’ll see what doors open. I worked for this. I built something out of nothing. I made myself necessary. And if it ever gets taken away, I’ll build it again. Always learning, sometimes teaching. . . Learning more about events like @typesauto Night lights has pulled me deeper into car culture. Being around these cars whether they are driving by or just parked brings me back to that feeling I had as a kid, just being in awe of everything. I want to be more involved in car events and races moving forward, but for now I’m just happy to be there, capturing moments and taking it all in. . .
