Curtis' live recording from the Bitter End NYC is one of my favourite records of all time and despite having a few different issues, today was the first time that I got hold of a US first press with minty vinyl. I'll forgive the ring wear on the cover as it's the same age as me!

Technically, if you play records 4 minutes long and you are playing a 2 hour set warming up for a headliner, you could get by with 30 records. But that lack of choice wouldn't make possible decisions made regarding the ebbs and flows of mood within your own set and indeed may not leave the headline DJ with the vibe they want. So here's about 90 records I've pulled out for this coming weekend! Stuff that I've either loved hearing on Naima's Klipsch beauts before or tunes I've been looking forward to share on them for some time. I've still to throw in some new stuff and it would be rude not to have at least a small bag of 45s wouldn't it?
Absolutely smashing May Bank Holiday weekend lined up @naima.coffee this coming Saturday and Sunday.
Saturday has Mitch, Jonathan and myself preparing the way for the legend that is Patrick Forge.
Sunday sees Kev Ashton, Darrell Krum and Johnathan getting you ready for a Sunday showdown from Admin.
I can't wait, I've never been so prepared, although there's still time to change all the records or panic and add half as many again like I've been want to do for the last 40 years I've been playing with vinyl!

Busy Saturday for me. Legging it over to The William Hardwicke in Bognor after parkrun for the Bognor Record Fair, I'll be joining the legends that are Keith Barnes, Dr Bob Jones and Mr Krum in providing the musical background to your digging.
Later in the evening me and Bobby Martell will be playing all evening at Naima in Chichester 8 - late.

Pulling out records for my Family Tree Radio Show going up on Mixcloud tomorrow. Two hours of all sorts including recent releases from Da Lata, Lakes & Fires, Sholto and Resavoir & Matt Gold. Also pulled out some jazz funk grails, a double dose of Zulema and a 1st press Jorge Ben that escaped the 70's military regime to end up here in Bosham. Might be room for some new De La Soul as well.

I still haven't warmed up from parkrun and not sure sitting in the Fratton End for 90 minutes of torture is going to help, but I know damn sure that I'll be warming up with some Brazilian rhythms early on tonight at Chichester's own "Clube Da Esquina" before some more eclectic upping of tempo later on. Can't wait to see what my DJ partner tonight @mr_krum will have in his box. I know for sure it will be all OG (not like some of these Brazilian beauties 😢).

While reading about Steve Cropper today I was saddened to learn of Phil Upchurch's death very recently. His solo work is one thing, but his contribution to so many records on Cadet and much more will be a lasting legacy.
Me and @mr_krum will be playing at @naima.coffee on a Saturday 13th December (after a @wax_cartell warm up at @havana_chichester on the 12th!), those Klipsch beauts will be perfect for releasing Phil's jazzy smoothness for your aural delight, I'll bring at least one Upchurch LP along.
