Can Games Change the World? An 8-week summer class with @hatimb00 !
It's the question on everyone's minds. Well, maybe not so much, but ~15 years ago, there were all kinds of TED speakers, gamification gurus, and playful entrepreneurs who really wanted you to believe games would.. except that today, the world doesn't feel much better off. So what happened? This seminar-style class seeks to make sense of the social phenomenon known as "games for impact" through playing them and reading texts of the era as well as from art philosophy. It's also a speculative game design workshop in which we will imagine different types of games away from the invisible constraints of commerciality. At the end, students will formulate their own theory on whether or not games can indeed change the world.

once again, last minute, but we're running another music jam this sunday, after zine jam, and its a special one, we're gonna be workshopping John Zorn's Cobra one of the most well known "game pieces" where there's a set of instructions on how conducting and play goes. when i saw this being performed it seemed like the musicians were having a blast, and its one of @mut.media@hatimb00 and @camiecamper big inspirations for starting this jam series.
no musical experience required, just curiosity and willingness to play. bring instruments to play and/or share if you want, we have a collection of toy instrumentst to share!
