I can’t believe that my third time competing at the Ontario Armwrestling Provincials has now come and gone. There was a lot of hopes and fears coming into this tournament as it was the first time competing in the provincial 220 class and not cutting weight to fit into the 198’s.
I ended up taking 6th place out of 16 on my right and 8th out of 18 on my left. Though the classes weren’t the largest I’ve seen in competition, the level of athletes that were in attendance were fierce competitors in the 220 class and I’m proud to have stood among them and competed against such a powerful group of Ontario pullers. While I wish the outcome would’ve been better, I am very grateful for this opportunity and am satisfied with the amazing wins and matches I did manage to have through the day as well as with the knowledge I gained to move forward with.
I want to first thank my trainer, chauffeur, side coach and wifey @madi.gagnier as well as the growing London armwrestling team for all your continuous, unwavering love and support. It made me proud to finally wear a team shirt and represent our power packed club of legends!
Next I want to thank Joe Gould and the @armfightclub as well as all the high quality reffs that gave HOURS of their time to keep the day moving smooth and make everything possible. From the family feel to the beautiful venue the day was truly another special day of armwrestling!
Last but not least I want to thank @big_robbie_archer and the whole @hateme.ca family for another exciting year of being able to support a great brand doing what I love. @williamgray0168 This marks the end of another year but more importantly then end of my second full calendar year of armwrestling. My first years focus was on getting out there to any and all tournaments and absorbing all I possibly could. I definitely did that hitting over a dozen different tournaments across Ontario.
This year didn’t go as expected with injuries popping up in the early months however my goal for this past year was to focus less on smaller tournaments and more on the big name tournaments and more importantly putting a lot of focus into training and getting stronger. I can now look back and say that I achieved that goal. I was able to place 3nd at provincials, compete at nationals and place 4th at Michigan state.
All in all I can say that I am coming into this new year excited for what’s in store with a supermatch to kick it all off. This year my goal is to focus on those same top tier tournaments and take on as many supermatches as possible so as to start climbing my way up the ranks.
I owe all of this success and growth to you all. From the loving and supportive friendly faces and cheers in the crowd at tournaments and practices, to my incredible team, sponsee, coaches and wife, I couldn’t ask for better. You all keep me driving forward even when I think hope is lost and I couldn’t do it without you all so thank you from the bottom of my heart. I hope to see everyone soon and wish you all success in your goal for 2025!
