My interview and DJ mix for the great dance music institution Beats In Space is out now, on Apple Music. Had a great time chatting Debt and playing a bunch of microinfluences (couple of cheeky forthcoming things in there too!) Much respect to the don Tim Sweeney @bisradio for having me and the amazing BTS team at @applemusic

I made a new album. It’s called “Debt” and it’s about the cost of doing business in the meme economy. I’ve teased some tunes from it, but the whole thing will be out October 10. Extremely excited to share more of this bubbly club music I’ve been noodling with for the past year. The first single is a song I wrote with the brilliant Julian Hamilton from The Presets. That’s out today. You can pre-order a vinyl copy of the record {slide 2} at my Bandcamp or save it to your platform of choice. In even more exciting news, I’m playing some shows around the world {slide 3} in both DJ mode and a full A/V live show with @akakuzco . Tix on sale this Friday. Thank you to everyone who’s helped this record come together and for continuing to ride with me. Love you all. 📸 @izzie.austin 🎨 @primary.works

Experimenting a bit with the live show this week. Trying to replicate the analog dub process but with a bit more reliability for the live rig. The little white controller is a alibaba special for some long throw faders running some filter and phaser patches. @akakuzco is in Melb this Saturday launching her new record (!) so I’m flying the spaceship solo up at @soundsofsteel.pk this Saturday. Will be thumpy fun with some great crew on board.

HARVEY SUTHERLAND - LIVE @theservo.pk - MAY 9th “Like Arthur Russell wearing John Oates’s moustache while making love to Cat Stevens circa Izitso” Harvey Sutherland, the Melbourne-born record producer, keyboard player, club DJ and bandleader, made a name amongst his hometown’s electronic underground with a string of cult dance singles. Early 12-inches like ‘Bermuda’ and ‘Priestess’ were records in love with classic soul and disco, but his debut album ‘Boy’ — written in a circular loop between his studio and his psychotherapist — was guided by his obsessional traits and habits, ending up in a place he describes as Neurotic Funk. “Electronic music has that archetype of the brooding, faceless producer”, he says, “I like hacking that, doing the opposite, embracing awkwardness and oversharing”. A close-up of his face is on the cover. Boy has seen widespread acclaim since its release, with Resident Advisor noting “[his] sense of musicality has always been head and shoulders above his peers...his songs are full-blooded and fleshed out...with clever turns of phrase and killer grooves…The album was nominated for two ARIA Awards, the Australian Music Prize and won the Music Victoria Award for Best Electronic Work. His latest material is an exercise in techno minimalism — laser-focused club jams like ‘Hummingbird’ and ‘Nobody Like U’ set the stage for Harvey’s next chapter. His machine grooves are fired through a prism of crate-digging influences, from Todd Rundgren to Basic Channel and back again. His distinctive synthesiser tones have graced remixes and production for Disclosure, Khruangbin and BadBadNotGood. A seasoned performer, he’s taken his live band to Glastonbury, dragged his Juno-60 into Berghain and turned the Melbourne Recital Centre into a full-fledged nightclub. Eclectic and groovy, Harvey Sutherland is Neurotic Funk. We are absolutely buzzing to have the Harvey Sutherland live experience headlining the main stage at The Servo for SOUNDS OF STEEL. It is guaranteed to be a damn good time, the funk will be fonkin, the bonk will be bonkin, get your ass in gear and we’ll meet you on the dance floor. FREE TIX to the whole day via the link in bio!!

He’s graced Glastonbury, Berghain and transformed the Melbourne Recital Centre into a nightclub for his album launch.
