Happy Valentines day! From the making of The Garden ~> last week to see @homecoming.gallery Amsterdam Images above are scraps from early naughties girls magazines and are part of Love at First Sight, a series of 28 new works reflecting on adolescence and first experiences, the excitement, and naivety of that time. Using ancient papermaking techniques, I combine photographs and objects I’ve collected over decades: dried flowers and memorabilia from my teenage years, letters from friends and pen pals from the late 1990s and early 2000s. I embed this personal archive into handmade paper, creating individual works in soft, sugar-pastel colours.

Join us Friday February 20 from 6-8PM for the launch and signing of Harley Weir’s latest publication ‘Walls’, alongside the closing reception of her exhibition ‘The Garden: chapter 2’. Walls brings together photographs made between 2013 and 2019 on both sides of the Israeli apartheid wall, from the occupied Palestinian West Bank to East Jerusalem. The book pairs these images with written contributions by Palestinians and is self-published by Weir in a limited edition of 500 copies. During the event, a selection of texts from Walls will be read aloud by two young Palestinians from We Are Not Numbers, a Gaza-based organization that mentors young Palestinian writers and journalists to tell their own stories and challenge the narratives that reduce them to numbers and statistics.
