We are sad to announce the passing of our cat Booger (aka Boogie), who died in her sleep late Tuesday night. Her death was fairly unexpected but she was a 19-year old cat and absolutely tiny. When we knew she wasn’t doing well we stayed nearby and I was right next to her when she crossed over the rainbow bridge.
Many of you also knew and loved Boogie, who had a habit of “cawing” raspily at guests and demanding attention. If she liked you then she would climb up onto your shoulders like a parrot. She was already old when she came into our lives but she was more spirted than any of the younger cats and loved head-butting us when we were working or reading or gaming or just sitting. We had to child-proof our cabinets when she arrived because she was clever with doors and would often try to forage for herself. She would try to help herself to your food if you left it unattended and claimed many glasses of water and milk for herself. Boogie did not give a flying fuck about your deadlines or your raid. She had a wonderful purr and would stay with you contentedly once you finally gave in to her demands, which was inevitable.
We are so grateful for the time we had with her, and we are extra thankful to our friends and family members who spoiled her rotten. Our theory is that she kept on going strong right up until the end because she was so loved. Thank you for giving her the best golden years a cat could ask for.
