Meet Hannah Thomas, one of the 16 artists of Loop State. Hannah Thomas is a British painter based in Wiltshire, working with acrylics, oil sticks, and pastels to create bold, often large-scale compositions. Her work features recurring motifs within fragmented, abstracted landscapes, exploring themes of mortality, absurdism, and the tension between the beauty and unease of the natural world. Originally trained in photography at UWE Bristol, she spent over a decade working in London’s music industry before transitioning to painting in 2019, seeking greater creative autonomy. Her work has been exhibited in solo and group shows in the UK, and she has been longlisted for the Aesthetica Art Prize. Thomas continues to develop an experimental, evolving practice and will join the MA Painting programme at the Royal College of Art in 2026.
