#truthfultuesday story time ❤️🩹 I was training in the studio the other day when I noticed the light was making my skin dimple and highlighting all my cellulite. And so I started to think the usual thoughts:
“Thank goodness no one else is here to see”
“I should have worn longer shorts”
“I can’t film from this angle”
“Why do my legs look like this?”
But then I started dancing and couldn’t help but laugh at myself and my own thoughts. It felt so silly to have been so caught up in skin texture and the angle of my camera that I had forgotten what an immense privilege, freedom and joy it is to have a body that can move and dance the way mine does.
5 years ago I would never have DREAMED of being able to do what I can do now. And yet here I was stressing over the way my body looked instead of focusing on all that it can do. Like whatttt? 🤨
There’s a reason women tend to be self-critical. Its not any fault of our own. Society teaches us to doubt & self-judge and constantly try to change our appearance. But we don’t need to do 💛 We can laugh it off. Notice the thoughts for what they are (a way for society to earn money off of our insecurities) and choose to focus on all the good our bodies give us instead. It’s easier said than done (trust me, I know), but it is doable 😌

It’s officially been 5 years since I started pole dancing and oh my goodness gracious - this sport has genuinely changed my life 🥹 If you had told me back then that I’d be travelling the world to dance in different studios and host camps and workshops and retreats I would never in my wildest dreams have believed it.
One thing is doing all this while studying my degree in psychology, another thing is getting to do it full-time now 💛 My life literally feels like a dream sometimes - and it’s ALL thanks to you guys!! ☁️
