a very special Mother's Day episode this week on @shemdpodcast with @krisjenner 🤍 we really had a raw, emotional, & deeply insightful conversation. You are going to LOVE IT!!!
I am so proud of these two @mclainlarson@michaelcohen08@fosterfinancialsfoundation for winning the @curtis.school alumni grant for their incredible foundation. ❤️❤️❤️❤️In the summer of 2025, McLain Larson founded Foster Financials after years of working directly with foster youth and equity-driven initiatives for children experiencing housing insecurity. What Larson witnessed was a pattern too troubling to ignore: too many foster youth were aging out of the system without the financial knowledge or mentorship needed to succeed.
Statistics told the story—60% of foster youth exit the system at or below the poverty line, 50% face unemployment within five years, and 25% experience homelessness in their first four years of emancipation.
Believing these were structural flaws in urgent need of reform, Larson also recognized that immediate support was critical. That summer, he created the first Foster Financials Literacy Curriculum by sitting down with soon-to-be-emancipated foster youth, documenting their fears, questions, and insecurities about personal finance. The result was the foundation of Foster Financials, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with a human-centered mission: to build a community of resources and mentorship that helps foster youth achieve financial independence.
Through workshops, one-on-one counseling, career panels, and scholarships, Foster Financials empowers young adults not only with knowledge, but with the confidence to build secure, independent futures.
