I wanted to share this beautiful sentiment by
@handoftess about her mother and her grandmother and how music connects us all together. 💟💟💟
@handoftess Music -the project theme- has a profound innate effect on human emotion. I wanted to create a personal testament to that. When I was little and would see prisms my mom told me it was my Grandma Tess (who had died of cancer right before I was born) saying hello to me, and also that when she dies that’s how she will visit me. Gloria Gaynor’s “I will Survive” uplifted Tess during her battle with cancer, and my mom during hers. When I hear “I will survive” by Gloria Gaynor I think of them, along with a mix of emotions: happiness, sadness, pride, longing, love. Almost 20 years later I can still vividly see my dying yet beautiful mother dancing to it up and down our hallway trying to get her body to keep up with the energy in her spirit. Thank you
@gloriagaynor for uplifting generations of women in my family. Dedicated to Tess, Claudia, Joanne, Annie, Sienna, and all survivors. 🌈✨
