In today's Other Comics, I'm talking about my favourite modern Magical Girl comic as well as the previous work by Loïc Locatelli-Kournwsky, Persephone.
I just adore the way Loïc remixes his influences to make something brand new, modern and thrilling. These books are beautiful reads and I could stare at the worlds Loïc conjures up for hours.

@tormalore is one of the funniest and most prolific authors in kid's comics! And my favourite work by her is Sister Clawdetta: Murder at the Monastery
While every book by Freeman is filled with hilarious drawings, great gags and charming characters, something about a kid's book filled with backstabbing monks, archaic language and smart jokes really appeals to me and I know it would've been 13-year-old me's favourite book.

I love horror but it can perpetuate some harmful stereotypes about mental health and neurodiverse people.
Which is why I am thrilled to recommend Hello Sunshine by @keezyyoung which tackles it so well.
This book tells the story of Alex, a troubled teen who goes missing in his small town, and the friend group that goes to look for him.
This was sold to me as a queer romance and while that is part of it, it is so much more and felt like amazing value for money. Young absolutely knocked it out of the park in terms of storytelling, visuals and message.

Did you know that in the basement of @piccadillywaterstones there is currently an entire room dedicated to Kid's Comics?
They have bookcase after bookcase of incredible stories from comedies, adventures, issue books, sci-fi, horror... there's picture books for the little ones and epic manga stories for young teens. I highly recommend checking it out!
