Proud Mom š¶š½š§š½| Department Director | Elected Port of Seattle Commissioner, representing 2Million+ King County residents. @commissionerhamdi
Itās #WomenHistoryMonth! Let's take a moment to flashback to being featured in the Puget Sound Business Journal and gracing the cover of @tabor.100 . Mama, we made itšš¾. Seriously, to all the amazing women and girls out there, don't let anyone tell you that you don't belong in the rooms where millions of dollars are being discussed. We can advocate for important economic development projects, maritime education, and quality work for transportation workers, and we can do it all while staying true to our identities and being bosses. Let's shatter those glass ceilings and make our stories the norm, not the exception. #Bosses #ShatterTheCeiling
Yesterday, I was sworn into office on my mother's Quran (the Islamic sacred book), and my sweet husband, Daud Ali, joined me.
Although the event was closed to the public due to the Omicron variant, Iām grateful to my friend @lofanland who documented the experience for the community.
Iām looking forward to representing all our communities on the Port of Seattle Commission. Thank you all for being so supportive throughout this journey! #LeadingTogether

#WomensHistoryMonth the stories we come from, the struggles we carry, the strength we inherit all hold power. My motherās story, and the work it shaped in me, seen on the front page of the @SeattleTimes , will always remind me of the women in our communities who share her journey, whose stories are never printed but whose impact is everywhere, this month and every month!
Women who carry families, communities, and dreams every single day. Women who navigate systems not built for them, and still rise. Women who organize, lead, protect, and push forward.
You are celebrated. Keep going. Your story is still being written!āØ#HERstory

We are closely monitoring reports of ICE activity at airports nationwide following the federal government shutdown and impacts to TSA staffing. At this time, operations at SEA Airport remain normal with no changes to security screening. Airport leadership has not indicated that ICE agents will be performing TSA functions at SEA.
I recognize that fear and uncertainty in our community are real. It is important that we stay grounded in facts, share accurate information, and support one another.
We are grateful to TSA workers who continue to serve without pay during this shutdown, and to the community members stepping up to support them!
This is a developing situation. Stay informed, know your rights, and look out for one another.

#StateOfThePort2026 One of my favorite events each year in my role as a Port of Seattle Commissioner. A chance to look back at our progress and move forward with vision, resilience, and purpose!
In a moment when the world is facing real challenges including shifting trade, evolving supply chains, and global instability, it is more important than ever to think about what strong ports mean for workers, businesses, and communities. And with the FIFA World Cup 2026 on the horizon, Seattle will soon welcome the world through our gateway.
Looking ahead with optimism as we navigate the challenges and opportunities ahead! @portofseattle@flysea
#BLACKHISTORYMONTH In the wake of the recent shootings in South Seattle, I am reflecting on what solidarity truly means during Black History Month in our region. Not just words, but action. Not just remembrance, but investment. Honoring Black lives and Black history means showing it in how we invest in Black futures and protect the generations coming up behind us.
My deepest condolences to the victims, their families, and all those impacted. Holding you in care and remembrance! š
False reports of immigration enforcement and Border Patrol sightings can cause unnecessary fear in our communities. Before sharing posts about ICE or CBP activity, ask yourself:
āļø Is there evidence to back this up?
āDate and time of the sighting?
šLocation (street name or area description)?
š·Photos or videos of the interaction?
šļøFirst-hand witness testimony?
š If you witness immigration enforcement activity firsthand or a loved one has been detained, please text or leave a voicemail to the WAISN hotline: 1-844-724-3737.
Please avoid calling the Hotline to document rumors or to ask if activity is confirmed so that first-hand information can get through to our organizers. Letās work together to protect our communities and stop unnecessary fear.
