@haighthouse is SF’s most exclusive club - or is it just another house party - or maybe a secret third thing??? 👀
We threw 24 parties in 24 months - kind of on accident - and came out of it with new friendships, rekindled flings, fresh relationships, and way too many awkward ex run-ins (not mine, yours lmao).
According to
@partiful , 1400+ people pulled up - 15 local DJs - 27 themes - and not a single puffer jacket in sight.
Haight House started as a housewarming with a theme - complete with a charcuterie board (ty
@gabtron92 ), cute decor (big ups
@michelle.knee ), and live music (holla at gergely).
In our second year, it evolved - we added DJs (ty
@classickenji and
@letchandlercook ) - projectors, lights, and lasers (shoutout
@vanalog_ ) - suddenly, Haight House was da clerrbbb - and we were all actually fam 🫶
Year 3 - I took a break because I was tired - and ended up throwing bigger warehouse parties and building art installations (
@artifact.av ) instead 😩 (more on that later)
As we enter Year 4, it’s only Haight House classics - our February party is one of my favorites - the infamous Red Flags party where everyone leaves knowing exactly what their friends think of them 🚩
And the secret third thing? Some might call it community, others might call it a 3rd space, I just call it home.
Home is an intangible feeling we all look for - we know when it’s there, but it’s tricky when it’s not - whether it’s in a person, a job, or a city. Haight House was home for more than just my roommates and me - once a month, for two years, it was your home too. Haight House is proof that SF never left - it just needed a place to gather.
I never bothered documenting the parties - making viral TikToks was never part of the equation, but one day someone said “I walked in and it felt like a movie” - and that was enough to make this video.
If you’ve read this far - yikes - but also - comment your favorite memory pls!
This is not the end of Haight House - just a love letter to everyone who told their friends, dressed up, got messed up, found love, and made it not my party, but yours.
All roads lead to Haight House ❤️
