HAFAI joined the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and partners at the Technical Working Group (TWG) Strategic Meeting on Menstrual Health and Hygiene Management (MHHM) ahead of Menstrual Hygiene Day. The meeting focused on strengthening menstrual health awareness across schools and Primary Health Centres within the FCT.

Sports still tells girls to stay quiet and suffer in silence.
Jemimah Rodrigues calls it out, periods arenât the problem, the stigma isâŚ
Cramps, fatigue and the pressure to perform while acting as if nothing has happened.
Talking and opening about periods will help our girls to take care of themselves and become better athletes and confident humans.

This is not just a private matterâit is a critical issue that demands our attention. Behind closed doors, Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) continues to affect young girls in ways that are rarely spoken about but deeply feltâimpacting their health, dignity, and right to grow up whole.
Ending FGM requires more than awarenessâit calls for collective action. Through education, open conversations, and community engagement, we can challenge harmful norms and protect future generations. Letâs stand together to amplify voices, support survivors, and build a world where every girl is safe and empowered.

Girls belong in technology spaces too đť.
Today, we celebrate the creativity, brilliance, and potential of girls in ICT. When girls are given access to digital skills, technology, and opportunities, they donât just use the future â they help build it.
Letâs continue to encourage, support, and create spaces where girls can learn, lead, and thrive in tech.
Because when girls rise in ICT, entire communities move forward. đ

Menstruation is a natural part of life, yet for millions of girls and women, it is still met with stigma, limited access to menstrual products, and inadequate water, sanitation, and hygiene facilities.
A period-friendly world is one where every girl can manage her period safely, with dignity and without interruption to her education or daily life. It means access to essential menstrual products, clean water, proper sanitation, and the right informationâwithout shame or barriers.
Menstrual products are not a luxuryâthey are essential. And dignity should never be negotiable.
Itâs time to move beyond awareness and take action to ensure that no girl is held back because of her period.

Educating the girl child is not just a rightâit is a necessity for national growth and sustainable development. When a girl is educated, she gains the power to dream bigger, earn independently, make informed choices, and contribute meaningfully to society.
An educated girl becomes a confident woman, a stronger voice in her community, and a foundation for healthier families and future generations. When we invest in girl child education, we invest in lasting change.

Millions of women give birth without access to clean water, putting both mothers and newborns at serious risk of infection and death.
Without proper water, sanitation, and hygiene, safe childbirth becomes a life-threatening experience instead of a moment of joy.
Clean water is a basic human rightâevery mother and every child deserves a safe, healthy start.
