Our next Drop In Club is *definitely* about something you never learn at music school: riders 🏇🏾! Have you been asked to provide your tech specs or stage plan for a gig, and not sure what that means? Or what to put on a hospitality rider, or access rider? Ableton! So much it can do! But for most musicians, a bit overwhelming to start…. Tomorrow night. 7-9pm, we’re hosting the next @amica.records Drop In Club! This month we’re kicking off with some Ableton basics, presented by audio engineer/educator @hadynbuxton , and then we’ll open it up for questions- and there’s no such thing as a silly one over here at Amica HQ! Ableton has become a foundation of my live shows too, so it’s a topic that will be fun to explore. $15, small group, come and say hello Head to /events

Thanks so much to @montemorgan , the lads and @synthtemple for having me on board for this fun session. What a vibe. #Repost @synthtemple with @use.repost ・・・ SynthTemple recently had a couple of sessions recording brass for Monte Morgan’s new works.  For mic set up, engineer, Hadyn Buxton, set up one trumpet with the AEA A440, the second trumpet with the Neumann U67, the saxaphone with another Neumann U67, the trombone with a Telefunken ELA M 251E and 2 Austrian Audio OC818s as the room mics.  Great to have such talented musicians in and enjoy the bright sound of the brass in our large studio 1.

Forever Changed is out now! 🥳 This album is immersive music you can soak in, that explore autistic/ADHD sensory needs, but are made for anyone to enjoy. Some pieces are solo piano lullabies for the corner of a room; others are multi-layered, glittery songs that *create* a room for the listener to step into! This album was recorded at home, at night, with my new partner. Sometimes, my son Will would be tucked up in bed too, hearing his own lullabies be recorded as he fell asleep! You can hear my love and care for Will in the meditative opening of almost every piece, sketched after his goodnight kiss. Tokyo Drifting is an homage to his love of Mario Kart. When he hops into bed in the morning, I always say ‘how’s My Favourite Person’? His baby gurgles at the end of the last album have been replaced with the belly laughs of playtime with me and his new stepdad. But Will’s most special contribution is the final track, which we composed together 🥹 Huge thanks to everyone involved in bringing this project to life:@hadynbuxton - recording, mixing, atmos, ambienteffects Lucy Warren - violin, viola @strelitzia_ig @jackecharlo - cello @marydoumany - harp @lachlanjc - mastering @lucieverett - cover art @kristofferpaulsen - cover photo @brettscapinphotography - recording photos @miarosebarham_ @jessicalindsay.music - admin gurus @moderna.records @idol.io - label support and distro @creative_vic @melbrecital And very special guests Will Hopkins, Gary the magpie and the birds of Montmorency 🐦 Arrival is an arrangement of the 3rd mvt of Under the Thinking Tree commissioned and premiered by the wonderful @muses_trio Kindling II is a solo piano version of part of my recent commission for @grigoryanbrothers which you can hear on their album Amistad. Link in bio to enjoy!! Some tickets still available for the 8pm show on Saturday at @melbrecital Created on Wurundjeri land 📷 Mia Barham (VD in comments) #neoclassical #newmusicfriday #peacefulmusic #autisticandproud #lullabies

Introducing: ✨ A M I C A F A M I L I A ✨ Amica Familia is the mentoring and industry skills side of Amica Records, created by @natbartsch (artist/label founder/producer) and @hadynbuxton (audio engineer/producer/educator). Think of us as like your favourite distant relative you see at Christmas - the kind, caring one you can talk to about anything; but who’s also pragmatic and honest with you. And they never ask “so how’s your music going” without asking many thoughtful follow up questions! The music industry is undergoing a transformation, and now more is expected of artists, with less. The economy we are creating in has changed, so has our revenue sources. The tasks that artists are now able to do ourselves, rather than paying substantial money, has also changed - which tips the scales again. But it feels as though there is an ever-widening gap between what musicians are learning to do, (particularly in the elite conservatoriums) and what is actually needed to survive in the industry. The result is that many artists end up feeling completely overwhelmed by the gaps in their skill set. So we’d like to be some friendly family in the industry for you! To help you not feel so alone as you create and share your music. The tools are there to do it all ourselves, and often this is the best (or only) option. But it can be isolating, exhausting, and a huge learning curve. Sometimes you need a sense of what’s viable and what’s important. When to scale up, and when to scale down. We’d like to help you create modular, sustainable projects that will help you navigate your career in this ever-changing industry a little better. And sometimes you just need someone to share your new demos with, right? We’re here to hang out with you ❤️ You can learn more at /familia (Awesome logo by @lucieverett and awesome drums by @maddisoncartermusic ) #musicmentoring #artsmentoring #musicindustry #kindmusic #musiccommunity #emergingartists

Had the absolute pleasure and privilege of spending time recording with legend Archie Roach and gurus Steve Magnusson and Sam Anning. Archie and his family welcomed us into his home and Archie laid it down like a boss and told it how it was. It was f##cking awesome! Can you tell that I had a good time?
