It's Deaf Awareness Week! 🤟
We invited our hearing players to warm up and play touch using earplugs to simulate the efforts and challenges d/Deaf people face when taking part in sport and daily life. The themefor 2026 is the 'Right to Understand' and what better way to empathise than by experiencing what it is like for our d/Deaf players on the pitch.
We asked our players for feedback on the experience and the responses speak for themselves (check out our reel!). Most found they had to rely so much more on their sight and the intense concentration needed to process the sounds around them. 🧠👀
Ravens welcome all players and are proud to have multiple hard of hearing (HOH) members that play, coach and volunteer. We believe in the inclusion of our club and hope to grow our awareness and the support we are able to offer. ☺️✨

@newcastleravens hosted their annual @hadriancup with teams from across the UK coming together for a true celebration of inclusive rugby.
Two decades ago on this day, we were just a new idea on a pitch. By February 2007, we were looking for our very first fixture to test our mettle. That search became the foundation of what we now know as the Hadrian Cup.
Back then, it had no name, no trophy, and was just a touch tournament between us, the @bristolbisons , and the @cardifflions . There wasn’t a “winner” on the scoreboard, but we definitely won the third half—we famously drank the clubhouse bar dry and hosted our first-ever Kangaroo Court the next morning.
We kicked off our 20th year by hosting a massive 18th edition of that same Cup, and we couldn’t be prouder of the legacy we’ve built since those first thirsty days in 2007.

Fast. Fun. Inclusive. That’s Touch Rugby with the Ravens.
We’re looking for new players to join our inclusive squad in Newcastle on the back of our super sucessful @hadriancup tournament. If you want to improve your fitness and join a supportive LGBTQ+ and ally-friendly sports club, this is your sign to get involved. We offer coached sessions for absolute beginners, so don’t be shy! All genders and abilities are welcome.
